  Lennon's first joint...

We're all told Dylan was first to introduce the Beatles to pot in New York:

But this lady says Lennon first inhaled in March of '64:

Doesn't seem like he got high though.

I go for the melody of a song first..and then the guitar playing. I'm
not into guitar hero's, such as Hendrix, unless a
solo can fit properly into the song. When Hendrix hit it big then, I
was bored, and I continue to be with his music.
"Red House" is a great blues song..but it's the same old formula that
was used in the 1950's. "Purple Haze" and his other songs do
absolutely nothing for me. I'm more interested in how bands play
together well, such as The Beatles,
Badfinger, The Raspberries, Cheap trick, REO Speedwagon..the band that
backed Tommy Bolin..and his 2 solo albums, etc, etc. These bands write
great tunes. I was bored with guitar soloing..in the beginning..back
when it first started. Grand Fuck and UFO have some great tunes, (as
examples) as well as the soloing. JMO. Sure, there are...

OT - Elvis visited the UK claim

Yeah OK so it's not fabs but still curious, and what the fuck it's all R&R
eh?

Tonight on "Have I got News for You" (UK TV Comedy quiz prog) there was much
talk of a claim by Tommy Steele that he held a secret that Elvis visited
London in 1958. I hadn't heard it before so I found it interesting. Paul
Merton thought it bollocks, which it probably is, and that if he had had
visited the UK in 58 everybody would have known coz he was so famous.

You Yanks probably don't realise this but it's a really big thing that Elvis
didn't visit the UK, only Prestwick Airport in Scotters.

I'm getting back into vegetables again BTW. Did you know that Americans in
WW2 were responsible for bringing sweetcorn to the UK?

In the 1984 Playboy interview, Paul and Linda said:

PAUL: "To most clear-minded people, it's obvious we should have
settled the Beatles' affairs by now... for our own sanity. But there
have been many stumbling blocks over the years. There was the occasion...

Paul McCartney writing book about Linda

Author: Crisstti
Date: Apr 26, 2008 15:34

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/a94710/paul-mccartney-writing-book-about-linda...

Sir Paul McCartney is planning to release a book about his late wife
Linda.

The Beatles legend met publishers in London this week to discuss the
special project. It is thought that the book will contain hundreds of
photos taken by Linda, as well as details about "intimate moments"
shared between the couple.

A friend of Macca told The Mirror: "Times have been hard for him
recently with the divorce from Heather. He's delighted he can focus
his mind on something else. He sees this as a special tribute to
Linda's memory."

Linda died in April 1998 following a battle with cancer. McCartney
recently described his late wife as "smart and talented" at the launch
of a London exhibition dedicated to her photography.

The ultimate in Beatles-based marketing!

"Imagine Whirled Peace":

I saw this on a Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream label as I was out grocery
shopping earlier, and I couldn't pass it up.

Caramel and sweet cream ice cream, with fudge peace signs and toffee
cookie pieces.

I'll let you know later how it turns out!
