Can the Moody Blues be considered part of the original wave of British Invasion?

Author: Led-Yes-Pin-Bea-Rol

The original wave which included Beatles, Stones, Who and Yardbirds?

Wiki says "The classic British Invasion period was 1964 to 1967". The
Moodies might have started around 1964 but missed the boat IMO

"The term "British Invasion" was coined in 1964 to describe the wave
of British rock-and-roll and beat artists (primarily groups) whose
popularity spread rapidly to the rest of the English-speaking world,
especially the United States and Canada. Rock 'n' roll had evolved as
an American musical form in the early 1950s and prior to 1963 very few
British artists had had success in that musical genre in the USA. The
Beatles' breakthrough in America (starting with the success of "I Want
to Hold Your Hand" in early January 1964) triggered a large wave of
British artists who succeeded in the USA in their wake.

Rock swept Britain. By 1964, London could claim The Kinks, The Rolling
Stones, The Yardbirds, The Who, The Pretty Things, Dusty Springfield,
Petula Clark, The Dave Clark Five, Peter and Gordon, Chad and...

  New soundclick page

Author: RichL
Date: Dec 25, 2007 19:30

To those who asked to see more of my valiant efforts to record music
*without* sounding like Ringo, I managed to create a soundclick page.
Actually, the real reason was that the bandwidth is limited on my Geocities
page, and my family (for whom I'm actually doing this, mainly) was unable to
access my stuff, particularly today when many of them gathered together in a
place far away from me. Anyway, here it is:

www.soundclick.com/richl

Some of the stuff is a bit spotty, and there isn't much I can do about my
voice. I'm convinced now that "Hello Hello" does sound like Ringo, but
maybe some of the others represent a ray of hope??

The first three songs were recorded with Sonar Producer and are of a bit
better technical quality than the others. But I'm learning :-)

What was popular music like right before the Beatles?

Author: BeatleFreak
Date: Dec 25, 2007 18:41

I'm talking specifically between 1960 and 1964 before the Beatles came to
America.

even with the Beatles, American music improved with groups such as the Beach
Boys, Byrds, mama's and papa's and others who had big success in the mid
1960s

but, Buddy Holly died in 1959 , Jerry Lee married his cousin in 1958 which
ended his popular success, Elvis went to the movies and Chuck Berry didn't
have any hits after 1958 so who were the big Rock 'n' Rollers on the U.S.
charts in the early 1960s?

This is one of the first songs I learned on guitar. It was originally
recorded by Eartha Kitt. I was wondering if it was one of the first
tunes you ever learned?
