It's the consumer's responsibility to educate themselves about the basic
quality criteria for a given product. When you go to buy a shirt, does
one have a tag that warns that their poor quality stitching will lead to
early disintegration? When you buy a car, does one model come with a
sticker that tells you it has a higher repair rate than a competitor? Do
you blame Kentucky Fried Chicken for not warning you that their food is
unhealthy, or do you consider that common knowledge?

You are expected to have acquired a passing knowledge of the competitive
field when you purchase a product. You can't blame the vendor when the
information is freely available to anyone willing to do a minimum of
research.
