Another Big 8 newsgroup that might work as an ARK outpost

I'm crossposting this to ARK and rec.music.artists.reb-st-james, a
newsgroup that seems to have had no on-topic posts for a couple of
years, aside from a single post last October announcing a Web site
devoted to Rebecca St. James, whoever she may be.

P'raps by being crossposted there, ARK posts may still be seen by the
forlorn who are losing access to alt.*.

The problem with sci.chemistry is that it appears to be a rogue Big 8
group, so news providers such as mine won't have it. What is needed
is a legit Big 8 group that isn't being used. So I went looking for
rec. and soc. groups that might not be in use and found this rec.music
one.

M'kay. Lesse if I got this straight- some bigtime ISPs are gonna
drop the alt. hierarchy because SOME of it MIGHT contain kiddy pr0n
rather than just blocking the relevant groups (or even co-operating
with Law Enforcement to Do Something about the perps).

SO wegotta go looking for an alt to alt?

Earlier this year teranews was still around, and still free; I would
assume it still is and is now, but I'm not using it.

individual.net is not free but it's liek $10 a year or something, and
it's what I'm using.

Let me check ... Yuppers. Teranews is still there and still free.

I'll keep that in mind if I have to go to below-the-horizon. I'm
currently using chartered-in-hell, but that could change without notice.

I think you may have been the person who pointed me toward
Motzarella sometime last yearish. Anyway, I've been using it since
then, and while it does have periodic (brief!) down-time, it's a
perfectly good (and free!) option. I would (and have) recommend(ed) it.

So, um, I second what Mr. Kuettner wrote.

I figured I'd take a look at it so tried signing up. It told me my
email domain (which resembles r1chh0lmes.net, but isn't) is invalid.
