salsa rythm problem

Hi,

I am having lots of problems finding the rythm with salsa. I am not
able to understand that how fast or slow should be I moving with the
music. What is the best way to solve this problem. can anybody advice.

I guess this may be a bit of a cop-out answer, but can you get someone
who *can* find the rhythm to help you? Maybe count it out with you?

I remember that when I first started dancing salsa, the basic step
seemed a little disappointing. There was so much going on in the
music, and yet the basic was so simple. (As though I was ready then to
dance to everything happening in the music--something I can't do now
for that matter!) Somehow you need to find the basic structure in the
music and recognize that the other layers are built on that.

One obvious suggestion is to try listening to a lot of salsa. Even
putting it on in the background will help you absorb the rhythm by
osmosis.
