Hi folks,

I need a quick answer: I wonder if that 500 miles
http://tinyurl.com/4b6uc3 (road 17 above Lake Superior) have got some
twisties on it. It looks quite curvy on the map but I am not sure how it
is in real.

Thx, Andy

  Stupid parking

Author: J. Clarke

Was headed down to Vernon the other day and noticed that somebody had
parked a nice Gold Wing crosswise of a driveway behind a large SUV.
Was headed back from Vernon and saw a flat Wing in the driveway with
the SUV parked on top of it and a bunch of folks running in circles
screaming and shouting.

They say bad things happen in groups of 3.

Riding home for lunch I approach an intersection and the lights are
flashing red. I watch all the cars in front of me stop and take turns
going through the intersection. I stop and see a car approaching from
the left and slowing down. So I take my turn and pull into the
intersection, and SOB speeds up almost gets me. I look up and his
light is GREEN! So the stupid light decided to start functioning when
I was in the middle of the intersection. Talk about being in the
wrong place at worng time. One down.

Coming back from lunch I see a beautiful Yamaha Virago I park near
down on the road in front of Big Ed's diner just off campus. Seems he
lost a fight with a cage pulling out of an alley. Two down.

And then I get to my desk a see an email notification that there has
been a bomb threat on campus, up at the hospital. That's the third
one.

Sheesh, I should have stayed home today.

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Two dirt bikers encountered
a mountain lion in a wilderness area on northern Vancouver Island,
BC Canada and here's what happened:

  Dealers and gas mileage claims?

Author: Lew
Date: Jul 2, 2008 08:49

I was calling on a customer near a motorcycle shop on the other side
of town, so I decided to drop in. I'm not looking to replace the old
bike yet, but I still like to keep up with what's new just in case.

There were plenty of cruisers and sport bikes, but almost nothing in
naked bikes or sport touring types. The salesman said most of their
sales were in the first two categories, the others were niche sales.
The only bike there I was interested in seeing was the new Concours.
He was going on about how great it was, and told me it got 40-50 mpg!
I told him I didn't think so because my 750 gets 40-50 mpg (60 riding
like granny), but he insisted it would.

With gas prices up, I know dealers are trying to capitalize on gas
mileage to boost sales, but I wonder how many dealers are spinning
fairy tales like this to unsuspecting buyers? Does anybody have a
new Concours that gets 50mpg?

Unbelievable! And what kind of electrical power does a thing like this
have to have:
