Hi, I'm the proud owner of a GPZ600R from 1986 I believe. It was
sitting outside for about a year and was working before and now isn't.
So following have been tried so far:
* Fuel tank has been cleaned and refilled with fresh petrol
* Carbs likewise (primed etc)
* IC Ignitor replaced
* All wires checked for continuity
* Battery charged (and checked)
* New spark plugs fitted (old ones weren't bad)
* Sidestand switch removed (this was done ages ago when it still
worked)
* All earth points checked for continuity to battery earth
* Visual check for short circuits
* Checked the resistance of the ignition coils, seem ok but I have no
ballpark figures to compare to

I have a 1995 JR50 with no spark. I also have a 1980 JR50.
The early 1980 model uses points and condensor whereas the
1990 model uses a CDI ignition. I have a service manual for
the 1980 which has the schematic for the old ignition. I need
the schematic and relavent pages for the late model bike so
that I can confirm how to check the pickup and ignition units.
Does anybody have a service manual with this information?
I have measured around 165 ohms for the pickup coil (which
I think is good/correct), and I have measured 16Kohms for the
spark plug wire to ground resistance. I get no conduction through
the input wire to ground for the ignition coil (I also believe the
CDI unit is built into the ignition coil assembly but have found
no information to confirm this). When I put an AC meter...

If money wasn't a limitation and someone built you your dream bike
(be it a road or dirt based based one), what are the two dream
modifications you'd most want the bike to have.
You can't just say no needs for mods, I'll take this dream brand of
bike.

I would like to be able to have the turn signals on my DR650 on all the
time to aid in being a bit more visible by motorists. Of course, I would
want them to flash for turning. Wouldn't this be as simple as changing
the normally open flasher relay to a normally closed relay? Or is it a
bit more difficult then that? I've heard Harley Davidson makes a kit to
do this to their bikes. Is such a kit available for my Suzuki?

The bulbs are dual filament types. But the brighter filament normally
works
as a turn signal, and the dimmer filaments are the running lights,
which get power when the headlights are on.
I suspect you have some crossed wiring right near the point where the
rear fender bolts to the frame.
