I have a 1987 GL1200 Aspencade that has four carbs in dire need of cleaning.
What's the best cleaner to use? If I remove and soak?

  next xj750 ?

i'm not able to find crash bars for this thing. this bike is so cherry
that i'm trying to avoid geting the crapped out bars off my old bike
before i sell it. i can fix them up and paint them but some new chrome
ones would be so zeeeet.

also it has a burnt out speedo bulb. tell me i dont have to dismantle
the headlight and display unit. other than that i wonder what i'm
doing with such a cool ride. i swapped out all the custom work i did
on the other bike and i will be posting pics soon.

  brake problems??

just got an 82 xj750 seca with 4,000 miles on it. rode it around for
about a week and all of a sudden the front wheel is locked up. tried
opening the bleeders and that did nothing. i gather that seca front
breaks are problematic and costly. i'll try to reach the previous
owner and find out if he did anything[ like a rebuild] that could have
gotten parts put on wrong. pads look unworn from what i can see
without taking stuff apart. any ideas???

I just bought this bike and It idles (badly) but wont run. If I try
to give it throttle it dies immediately and will only idle for a short
time before dying out. I assumed the carbs were shot so I tried to
bypass them for diagnostic purposes by sprating carb cleaner in the
intake and it didnt pep up at all. It has spark, I checked to see
that the coils were pulsing with my power probe and then checked each
plug to make sure they were all firing and they are which leads me to
believe this could be a compression issue. Am I missing something?
I've read a little bit about the cam chains going bad on these bikes
but I dont hear any hideous noises when it idles.... I'm an auto
tech but this is my first liquid cooled bike and I suspect someone
might have some input for me. Any help would...

  Query about compressing the forks

Author: Sean_Q_

I've read that compressing the front forks mechanically can damage them,
but I'm not sure why.

I plan to use a pair of ratcheting load straps on my Ultra Classic's
forks to lower it between 1 and 2 inches while loading it into a van.
They'd be that way for a few minutes.

Is it the distance they're compressed or the amount of time that's
the problem? Any help appreciated. TIA,
