Does anyone know if the Brickyard will be wide open for the GP
?....or stadium seating only ?
I'm wondering the same about the Mile.
Last mile I attended there,..grandstand was priced a-bit more,..but
there was also a general admission ?
I'm thinking both will draw [big-time] & some of the mile crowd will
be simply cause the GP crowd is in town ?

Ginga Ninja Dun Good!
Bradley Smith fastest on day 2 and 3 of the Jerez test. Unofficial lap
record. 0.3s ahead of Talmasci. Only rider in the 1m46s
Go Bradley!
Now if he can just have more luck than Pasini did on the same bike last
year. And work out how to really push in the first 2 laps.

that season was during a spell when i was away from following top-
level GP racing. but i'd read in the last year or so on this NG
several guys slagging KRJr about how shatty a rider he is, along with
nicky hayden.
i got to thinking "KRJr's got a world title, cant be THAT bad".
so i watched his 2001 title defense season...and the dude can flat
ride. given is 2nd-rate RGV that season, he qualified front row ALOT,
and when he was deeper in the grid his amazing starting skills often
saw him leapfrog tons of guys and take the holeshot. like watching
ricky gadsden or something!
granted he seemed to go backwards ~10 laps into the race, seems to me
that was the tires giving up the ghost.
even in the '06 season when the KR211 was fairly well sorted with a
good honda 990 motor, kenny was dicing at the front in more than a
couple of races.
bottom line: the guy's got a world title and mad skillz. maybe just
needs a deeper voice! ;-)

Here's a thing. When Airwaves were talking about going to WSB, Ducati
were talking about running a similar setup to MotoGP with the factory
team and a satellite team closely tied to the factory so they would have
4 bikes working on set up on the new bike.
So Airwaves pulled out and we have Biaggi/Xaus on the Sterilgarda team.
Then Biaggi does an extra 3 days at Qatar and says he's working closely
with Ernesto Marinelli (head of the WSB technical team) on setup. And
Biaggi/Xaus end up 0.5s quicker than Bayliss the previous week.
The fly in this ointment is the rules. Flammini say they're going to
take the average of the top two on 2s and top two on 4s to decide if the
weight and air restrictors needs changing. So Ducati really need to play
a game where they have one bike out front (Bayliss) and the other three
relatively nowhere. It may be bad for them if Xaus, Biaggi and Bayliss
are all getting podiums.

Yes I know it's only early days[1], but it's interesting to see De
Puniet doing well in the Sepang test. Maybe Jerry Burgess was right
when he tipped him as a potential top MotoGP rider a couple of years
ago (maybe Burgess's endorsement was why De Puniet got hired, I was
certainly skeptical at the time, although he did seem to do a
reasonably solid job last season).
Nice to see Hopkins posting some good times as well - I was wondering
if moving to Kawasaki was a good move for him, as I felt the Suzuki's
probably had the edge on the Kawasaki. I suppose comparing Vermulen
and Hopkins this season will give some sort of guage on the relative
merits of the bikes.
Has Rossi been over hasty in ditching Michelin ? Perhaps he'll end up
forever chasing the best tyres, and always be one season behind :-)
Melandri is only ahead of Guintoli and test riders - that can't be
good for him.
Edwards 2nd fastest - perhaps there's life in the old dog yet.
[1] Anybody care to to a statistical correlation between Sepang test
times and the subsequent season standings :-)

Dani P posts the 2nd best time on day one in Sepang, then falls off,
busts his hand and flies back to Spain. He may be out for a month. I
guess Nicky Hayden will just have to turn more laps than anyone else to
make up. Oh. Right.
It's only the first day back after the break, but Stoner's up there near
the top and the other 3 Ducatis are right at the tail end.
