Cheap 3.7g servos - how low can you go?

Author: Ted
Date: Jul 26, 2008 22:30

RCGroups.com

"Made an offer on 4 servos at $3 each [eBay page:
http://atu.ca/Servos ], which was accepted instantly.
Shipping was $3.40, for a total of $15.40. Significantly
cheaper than hobbycity (which is $3.95 plus shipping)"

"Thanks for pointing me there, I bid $2.95 each for 4 and
it was also accepted immediately. Disposable servos? Even
if so, what a price."

"Well, I thought I could one up you and try $2.50. Still
tapping my fingers in a rolling motion waiting on
acceptance......Guess all I can do is run it up the
flagpole and see if they'll salute."

Brands of transmitters, mix and match?

Author: Peter Olcott

How well can different brands of transmitters and receivers
be combined?
What about different brands of receivers and servos?

I have a JR Sport S400 transmitter, and want to upgrade the
micro receiver to the next larger size for greater range, I
also probably want to upgrade the sub-micro servos to the
next larger size for greater torque. I am considering the
Hitec brand for these components.

How can I fit a different sized brushless motor to my gearbox?

Author: Peter Olcott
Date: Jul 25, 2008 05:17

I found what seem to be some very excellent values for
Brushless motor at HobbyCity.com

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_listCategoriesAndProducts.asp?catname...

How can I fit these motors to my existing Slow Stick
gearbox? (The motors have a different diameter and their
shaft also has a different diameter).

Where are some places where I can get high quality and low
cost gearboxes that will fit these motors that will provide
the same kind of performance (same weight) as my original
gearbox? How do I know what gear ratios to select?

  Re: Thunder Tiger Pro .46

Re Thunder tiger pro 46. I recently installed a new tt pro 46 in an
older sport plane and I installed the prop and it test turned smoothly
as would be expected.
I then fitted the muffler and gasket using the screws provided and
found that the engine locked up at top dead centre. I backed off the
exhaust screws and it freed up the piston again. I have since run in
this engine on the bench with the exhaust screws only lightly nipped up
and i have slowly tightened the screws
to the correct tension and now after approx 3 hours of slightly rich
flights all is well.
This is my experience and it may be worth checking that there is not a
distortion caused by the muffler bolt tension when your engine is warmed
up.

  Super tigre G51not firing up

Author: GerryGerry
Date: Jul 24, 2008 02:12

I have a G51 that feels like it has almost no compression (it was given to
me as a freebie by a friend). It is fairly new and on disassembling the
piston/liner look fine with no scratches or other obvious signs of wear. I
have tried getting it to run (using 10%% coolpower) and an APC 12*6, but have
had no success so far it will barley even fire up let alone stay revving to
allow some kind of tuning. I've never had a ringed engine before so I'd like
to know should I give up on it or is there something I can try to get it
running?

All help/advise gratefully appreciated.

PS I have installed a new Enya no.3 plug but no change.
