# Black Talon ammo was taken off the market several years back
# apparently because of its reputation as a meat, slicer and dicer.
# Question is, is it legal or wise to use this ammo in my cc weapon.
# I have several boxes of 9mm and ,45 cal left.
#

AFAIK, for all of the reputation, it was never actually banned anywhere, so
it would be legal to use. However, that's not to say that someone couldn't
try to make an issue out of it afterwards. I still have .40 BT loaded in
the gun in my nightstand and have several boxes left also.

isn't there a company that makes expanding bullets/cartridges that have a
ball or plastic insert in the hollow-point,thus not being a "hollowpoint"
bullet?
Would that be legal in the People's Republik of NJ?

Dagnabit, for the last time, New Jersey does *NOT* (currently) ban the
possession of hollow point ammo. >:-O

You're allowed to posses it at home or at the range, but not for your carry
weapon. And since it's virtually impossible (without being politically
connected, that is) to obtain a CCW license anyway, that point is moot.

Let's put this urban myth to bed for good finally.

# Does that include the POLICE?

No, and it doesn't include private citizens, either. You can purchase it,
take it home with you, keep it at your residence, take it to a range, etc.
The only thing you can't do is carry it with you, either in a firearm or
just jingling around in your pocket. Since 99.994%% of NJ residents can't
get a permit to carry a handgun anyway, the law against HP ammo is almost
moot.

For the .006%% who are granted the privilege of defending themselves outside
their home, they must use something other than HP rounds.

That is a de facto prohibition or ban, not being able to legally use an item
for its intended purpose.
