Too many sporking daggers in the mines!

The most recent versions of sporkhack make the mines way too dagger
rich with every other Gnome carrying several. It's like the tourists
are almost playable.

Plus look at all of those crossbow bolts!

Why not change the random gnome to one random small weapon. The
surviving gnomes will be able to gather enough daggers to throw off of
their dead buddies soon enough.

Yeah, I see that too. The problem with vanilla is that you pretty well
have to go to minetown and back several times to get 20 +0 uncursed. Not
the safest thing to do. Replacement of *some* with darts might be an idea,
but the amount isn't that bad. You don't need to bring them all back after
all.

Why are your tourists throwing daggers instead of darts?

A: There is no dart named Magicbane so it saves a bunch of skill
slots. (Wizards can risk naming the first non-cursed elven dagger
they find, but this doesn't apply for Tourists.)

B: You can't two-weapon darts.

C: There are no silver darts.

D: Daggers are never poisoned so gnomes don't pick them up and instant
kill you or your pets.

E: Ordinary daggers are +2 to hit and +1/2 damage over darts and elven
is even better,

and best of all

F: Daggers don't go poof so it's worthwhile to max-enchant a few elven
daggers and carry them to heaven.

YANI: A tourist's first artifact sac gift should be an artifact dart
named Pubfun. +d6 to hit and blinds and confuses the target, as long
as it has an eye to poke out. Does not evaporate when throwing.

And if you're an elf who happens to wish for this item and poke someone's
eye out then it's hilarious. Was re: It's all fun and games until someone
pokes an eye out, then it's hilarious. Old elven saying AFAIK

Early on as a tourist I start by using my darts, then I switch to
daggers so I don't run out of darts, then I switch back to darts once
I have a big stack and can enchant them all up.

but the tourist _starts_ with darts, not Magicbane. In Spork (even as
a wizard) it's an ordeal to get Magicbane without using a wish.
Besides, there are plenty of skill slots: daggers to expert, darts to
expert, sabre to whatever and maybe some for spells, too.

Would you mind to elaborate a bit about this?

Sporkhack's sacrifice gifts are often not artifacts, but merely highly
enchanted ordinary items.

You mean non-weapon items as well? (Armour? Bags of holding? Wands of
death?)

In case of ordinary weapon gifts I suppose the player's skill is made
unrestricted as well?
