Tech EM: Williams Pot O Gold not delivering ball to shooter lane

Author: dnielsen
Date: May 19, 2008 23:41

I've had this Pot O Gold for about a year, and have the schematic. I
can mostly follow the schematic, but sometimes get lost in how one
relay or action relates to another.

The machine recently developed a problem where the Ball Release relay
will not fire. If I start a new game, the credit unit steps down, the
ball count goes to 1, but the ball does not get delivered to the
shooter lane. I've checked the wires and contacts on the Ball Trough
Switch, and everything seems fine. I've jumped the switch and the
Ball Release relay still won't fire.

If I manually engage a playfield target and score some points, the
Transfer Relay locks on as it should. But, I notice the Ball Index
Relay does not lock on. If I manually engage the Ball Index Relay, it
will lock on. At this point, the Ball Trough Switch will still not
activate the Outhole Relay, but if I then manually engage the Outhole
Relay, the Ball Index Relay and Transfer Relay both de-energize, the
ball count advances, and then the Ball Release relay fires, delivering
the ball to the shooter lane.

What action locks on the Ball Index Relay? Where should I go from
here?

Tech: Need help with TAF dim GI lights

Author: pinball-1968

The problem I'm coming across is my lights in the backbox are really
looking
a little dim and the game seems a little dark to me. I have a brand
new replacement powerboard installed, but I cannot figure out why the
lights look a little dim? I have all new bulbs installed and I don't
see any problems anywhere else. Does anyone have any ideas?
I checked all voltages at the GI lights and I'm getting 2.8v, and
even
on certain playfield lights the have the same color wire string
(yellow with brown stripe) they are the same voltage. I switched the
xformer from my WH20 to my TAF and it's the same, so I'm ruling out
the xformer. Nothing is burnt or browned on that circuit anywhere!
I must ask though, just a thought. I installed a TAFG rom set in my
game which is
originally a regular TAF, would this...

WTB: Working Transformer for TAF - 5610-12835-00

I'm looking for a tranformer for my TAF, Bally #5610-12835-00. The
problem I'm coming across is my lights in the game are really looking
a little dim and the game seems a little dark to me. I have a brand
new replacement powerboard installed, but I cannot figure out why the
lights look a little dim? I have all new bulbs installed and I don't
see any problems anywhere else. Is it possible that it's just tired?
Does anyone have an idea or know someone who has a working one for
sale, or even someone who checks and fixes them? I also just incase I
find out mine is ok wouldn't mind having a spare just incase because
all my other pins use the same one.

Pete
