I don't think you'll be happy unless you do the job right. This means
removing the old decals, repairing cabinet and prepping the cabinet
for new decals. New decals will only magnify any issues and adhere
much better to a properly prepared surface.
For what it is worth, I just finished my first decal application on a
TZ and I'm very pleased with the results. I handled it by myself using
the wet method. Cabinet repair was the most time consuming portion of
the project.
For the person who asked about a helpful video, keep you eyes glued
here. Brian Kelly is working on a restoration video that includes
decal replacement.

I have four pinled displays that I put in my 1981 Stern Lightning game
as replacements (2 of the original Stern displays had slight issues-
not bad after 20 + issues).
I do not get the first digit showing up (million score).
I had a score that was something like this: 1, 340,000. During the
high score display after the game each display only showed 340,000. I
then put two of the old displays in (player 1 and player 4) and they
both showed the first digit (1,340,000)
My pinled display says 7 digit numeric display and is coded PN 2003032
on the board. It has seven display areas so I do not think I have the
wrong model.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gottlieb Amazing Spider Man, 1980: $650 complete, as/is.
Cab nice, pf nice with very light wear, BG ok.
Got in a multi game deal awhile back and have lost motivation.
Allegedly boards were serviced before game sat for awhile and then I
purchased, but I have not fired it up.
I was going to put this SM next to a new SM, but time, motivation and
funds have went elsewhere.
It sits and needs a new home.
Tough to find one of these in good shape.
Email for link to pics or info.
$650, pickup in Tampa, Florida. Possible delivery to Orlando, FL
March SuperAuctions.
