  WOT: Request For Help

Author: Borygard

The last few weeks have been difficult for me to say the least with
the passing of my Mother. It's just not seeming to end.

Those of you that know me or have met me know how much my dog Monty
means to me and that he's my traveling companion and goes absolutely
everywhere with me. Out of all the days of the year, Mother's Day, I
find Monty not feeling well and a trip to the Vet is warranted. It
turns out he's got a growth on his spleen and is in need of surgery.
The Vet bill is already over a grand and the estimate at the moment
for the surgery is upwards of $5K.

With the costs related to my Mother's passing, I'm finding myself in a
bit of a bind. I would normally never post something like this, but
under the circumstances I'm at a loss for what to do.

I'd like to ask anyone with the means and want to send anything they
can to my PayPal address below to help me out of this bind. I really
feel terrible for asking, but honestly I'm just really emotionally
drained at the moment and don't know what else to do.

My PayPal address is myldryd at gmail dot com and anything anyone is
willing to send will be immensely appreciated.

  No Fear LIVES!!

Author: Gunstar Hero

Not that I suppose this is anything to brag on, but I'm so pleased I
gotta tell the world... after 9 months my No Fear lives! New Pinball
Inc. ramps, Orbit Pinball clear plastics and lots and lots of cleaning
and it's looking and playing like a million bucks! =)

With any luck my new Pinball Pro subwoofer will arrive tomorrow for
the finishing touch!

I gotta give a couple shout outs too... Cliffy (the pimp daddy of
pinball!) for the protectors, Frank at Orbit for the clear plastics,
Don at Pinball Pro for the speaker advice, and a special one to CH at
HEP... while he didn't do anything for me directly, his photo gallery
was a HUGE help, and his BK2K one is helping me just as much. Also my
local buddies Will and Andy for the tech help. This community really
makes things happen and it makes this a great hobby to be in!

Anyone parting or recently parted a T2?

Author: John Wart, jr
Date: May 11, 2008 21:40

Had a slight delay pop up on a restoration project and decided to put the
next 2 weeks to good use til I can finish my BSD.

Decided to shop out the sample T2 beater I posted pics of to the group
recently

See http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.pinball/msg/94dc469a2ebffc35 if
interested in the original post

Today, I ordered new targets, main ramp, skull and H/K ship.

Parts I need and have not yet found:

Decent translite. Prefer decent used over NOS due to cost
Left ramp entrance sign with brackets. Mine is gone completely, other than 1
bracket still attached to the game
Original ramp, blown out or otherwise, must have factory protectors intact..
My protectors are gone from the ramp. Doesn't appear they were ever
installed, but Kerry's proto has them from the factory, so I am guessing the
ramp on his was either replaced, or his was made later than mine.
Would take the left plastic under the skull, but since these are always
broken, I doubt I will find one.

Send offers via e-mail please.

Thanks!

Tech: black knight 2000 right flippers quit working

Author: rudy1094
Date: May 11, 2008 20:08

I tried to rebuild the upper right flipper the other day and all the
flippers were working at first, but both the right flippers quit
working during my the first game after rebuilding the upper right
flipper. I've had the game for a while and the flippers were working
before I attempted to rebuild the upper flipper.

I'm assuming the problem lies in the upper right flipper since that
was the one I was working on. I used my multimeter to look for a bad
connection, but wasn't able to find anything obvious. I checked the
diodes and the wiring. I don't know what the common link is between
the upper and lower flipper right flippers that might have gone bad.
I appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks.

  Eric Johnson vs. the USPS

Author: Chris Hibler
Date: May 11, 2008 20:04

Good evening good folks of RGP,

A couple of weeks ago, I put out the call for some Hyperball parts
(please...no Hyperball cracks...at least not right now). Eric Johnson
was nice enough to answer the call. He alerted me to things to check
on my Hyperball, and sent me a lot of parts to fix the various issues,
which was very nice of him. So...nice guy.

But, this story is about the epic struggle between people who ship
things and the people who work for the shipping company. I get a lot
of packages. USPS, Fedex, UPS, DHL, etc. About 10%% of them are abused,
sometimes damaging the contents.

When I picked up the package that Eric sent, I feared the worst. As
you can see here:
http://webpages.charter.net/chibler/Pinball/Images/HyperBallShippingResized.jpg
the USPS somehow stuck something (I'm thinking 1/2 inch spike of some
kind) completely through the box and into the contents, as if they
were trying to dust a vampire.

Eric's failsafe packing however (essentially double boxing), provided
the extra margin of safety and I'm happy to report that due to this,
all of my parts survived unharmed.

Allentown - Disappointed. If you are thinking about going but haven't you should investigate first.

Author: cobra

Background: The only prior pinball show I had been to was the Chicago
Pinball Expo. Perhaps my expectations were to high with Allentown.
Chicago is 1000x better and now I am afraid to go to the York show.

The Good:
1) At least there is a show. Better than no show.
2) The concession stand was reasonably priced.
3) Parking was free.
4) They had a couple Family Guys and a Wheel of Fortune.

The Bad: (Broken down to what is the show's fault and what was beyond
the show)

Things that are not directly the Pinball Show's fault:
1) Quite frankly Downtown Allentown PA is a DUMP. The city itself is
an eyesore.
2) I went on Sunday. There was a trashy liquidation sale going on
right next door. I was afraid for the safety for my vehicle as it
looked like 95%% of the people there could not afford car insurance.
3) Trashy cops standing in the parking lot.
4) Nasty smells (sewer gas?)
5) Creepy bathroom attendant

Room for Pinball Show improvements
1) $15 is too expensive for what you get. Only games easy to get on
were EMs and they shut off machines way too early (see below)
2) Not many titles, but lots of repeats...
