Well, hang on there... No use operating if the patient is already dead!
By grounding the transistor, you're manually forcing it on. (even if the
transistor is shot, this will work!) If your saber doesn't light doing
that, changing the components that *control* the transistor aren't going
to get you anywhere. (Except maybe on the fast train to pissed off. :)
)
So, you know the power is good to the neon. Now it sounds as though
either the tube is dead, the transformer is dead (unlikely, but still
possible), or the path to the transistor (the ground path) is dead.
Easiest thing to do would be to jump both +12V and ground directly to the
transformer, and see if it lights. Obviously, if it doesn't, then you
have a bad transformer or bad tube; stop right there.

the wrong guy.
take a breath, stop posting and RE-READ some of the crap you've posted
lately and think of how it's NOT normal behavior.
try posting like a normal person, tips, tricks, links or whatever else.

Got old with me pretty quick also. As mentioned previously, the game
*looks* great and the music is good. I also did not care for the
gameplay.

Ummm, if the person who started the thread is in your kill file, that's
how their threads will show up. (no base message, just replies.)

All of those symptoms can be caused by a news server that's on the fritz.
Obviousl, this message made it. :)
Also, keep in mind that it's perfectly OK (according to newsgroup norms)
for a message not to appear for a few hours. So just make sure this
isn't a case of your expectations being too high. (Yeah, *USUALLY* it's
instant, but it's not guaranteed to be so by any means.)

I was not having any problem with ball coming off the ramp, just the
problem of the ball hitting the diverter and rolling back towards the
ramp then rolling back into the diverter.

For this particular newsgroup, I'm just using Google Groups through my
normal web browser, Firefox.
I was using a free newsreader for a while but frankly Google just seems
easier and more straightforward.
Open your web browser, use Google to search Rec.games.pinball, and that
will lead you in. You have to create a username and then you can start
posting. Try it for a day or two and see what you think.
Kind of nice too because then you can read or post from any computer
anywhere.
