Last Tuesday: 1-0, +1.00 units
Season: 1-0, +1.00 units
Blue Jays +135 vs Yankees (SIA) -- I'll usually jump on a Cy Young
caliber pitcher like Halladay as a substantial underdog. Even against
good competition like the Yankees you can win almost half the time and
make money.
Rays/Orioles under 9 -120 (SIA) -- Two starting pitchers who really
came into their own last year. Cool damp weather not conducive to
hitting. Improved bullpens for both teams.
Rangers/Mariners over 8 -115 (SIA) -- Maybe Bedard CAN turn it on
after a bad spring where he allowed a ton of HRs. He is certainly a
great pitcher. But Kevin Millwood had an ERA over 4.5 and a WHIP over
1.6 last year, and you have two AL offenses, making this 8 just too
low to pass up.
Diamondbacks -104 vs Reds (Intertops)
Dodgers -1.5 runs +120 vs Giants (SIA) -- Giant lineup looks to be
one of the most pathetic in baseball this year.
Rockies -107 vs Cardinals (Intertops)

After taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning off of Braves starter
Tim Hudson, the Nationals nursed that lead into the 9th inning of
their season opener.
In the 9th, however, the Braves were able to plate the tying run
courtesy of the dreaded past ball that tied the game at 2. In the
bottom half of the inning, Washington's Ryan Zimmerman nailed a line
drive home run to left lifting the Nats to a 3-2 win.
Nice underdog hit for the bankroll as the Nationals were
substantial dogs (+154) at the time the play was released. I did
noticed some Washington money flowing in as first pitch approached as
the line continued to fall.

Atlanta will be the opponent for the Nationals as they open their
new stadium and the MLB season on the mainland of the US.
Tim Hudson will be facing the former Brave Odalis Perez. Atlanta
opened at -165 and is pretty much in the same neighborhood save for a
-174.
Considering that -150 must hit 60%% to break even, I will play the
percentages this early in the season and take the Nationals in this
underdog role.

2008 RGS BASEBALL CONTEST RULES
1) Everyone starts with a $5000 bankroll. If the bankroll reaches
zero, or you do not have enough left to make a legal play, with no
outstanding bets, you are out of the contest. You may not put more
money in action in a given day than your starting bankroll that day
(i.e. if you have $500 left you can't bet $500 on day games, win some
of them, and then use the winnings on night games).
2) Only regular season games and the All Star Game are part of the
contest.
3) Only money lines, totals, and run-lines are allowed. Some books
offer "reverse runlines" where you get the favorite +1.5 runs or the
dog -1.5 runs. These are NOT permitted. I do realize there are some
games that are close to a even money on the moneyline where one book
may have a different runline favorite than another; these are usually
obvious to the monitor and I will accept runlines with either team as
the favorite. Only the "primary" total offered by a book is accepted.
4) You may not make bets that oppose each other (both the over and
under on the same game; both the favorite and the dog in any
combination of money line and runline bets).

Atlanta Braves -160 (Hudson/Perez)
pinnacle
Hudson had a fine spring; Perez did not - 4.96 ERA. Both starting
lineups hit well, but the Braves scored 1.3 more runs per game. I
know the new stadium should jack up the Nats and the crowd, but this
2008 Braves opening day starting lineup hit .297 against lefties in
2007.
Thanks,
RS
