Another night not to write home about as the plays for Thursday
struggle home with a 1-2 finish. Only solace is that the Top Play hits
again as Wright State were as the 80's boy group New Kids on the Block
would say, "Hangin' Tough." For the week Top Plays are sparkling at
3-1 and are on a 7-3 clip the last 10.....overall the plays for the
week are 6-9.
This is the point the past three weeks I have put together my best
work as Saturday's plays of late have proven strong. After consecutive
weeks of 5-0, 4-1, and 4-1 I only hope the well has yet to run dry.
Speaking of Saturday, I have my lines prepared for 41 games this
week and they will be presented in four groups. After the openers
arrive, I will generally make one selection from each group and one
"wild card" selection from the strongest "2nd" plays available in each
group. I should have this process done a little later this evening.
Laying off the Friday action this week as I am sitting on 15
selections for the week and I prefer to make the final 10 plays on the
weekend action (5 on each day).
Here are my lines for Saturday March 1st NCAA Basketball action...

Yesterday: 1-2, -1.20 units
Season: 68-65, -2.55 units
Valparaiso -12 vs Detroit (SIA) -- Valpo won by more than this AT
Detroit. And Detroit is now missing one of its top scorers, starting
guard who scores 19 ppg. Without him (and another guard who recently
got hurt), in their last game they lost by more than this at Bowling
Green, a team rated lower than Valpo in any power rating you care to
look at.
Wright St +11 vs Butler (SIA) -- Wright St is the 2nd best team in
the conference, and they beat Butler at home. Butler hasn't beaten a
good team by more than 11 since December 1 (UW-Milwaukee may
borderline qualify as "good", and BUtler beat them by 16 in early
January, but they are far inferior to Wright State). Wright hasn't
lost a game by double digits since that same December 1 game.
Stanford -11 vs Washington (SIA)
Arizona St +7 vs UCLA (SIA)

NCAA Basketball Feb 28, 2008
Another disappointing night as the plays are going to struggle to a
2nd consecutive 2-3 night. Both of the winners were solid hits with
Florida and Houston, but they were counteracted by losses in two close
games (UNCW +11 lost 58-72 to VCU after trailing by one at the half,
and Miami +8.5 losing 69-79 after rallying from deep hole to get
within one then missing layup at horn to cover and one not-so-close in
Creighton's +3 54-68 loss at Illinois St.
Key loss was Miami as it was the top play of the day. My line
certainly didn't account for Clemson's 23 of 31 effort from the foul
line (74.2%%) when this team has rarely shot over 60%% and is under 60%%
as a squad for the season. Miami lost this game is the first half,
came out ready to play after halftime and closed the gap to 3 then ran
out of gas.
All plays for the week are now 5-7 with the top plays (GRADE 5) still
winning at 2-1.

Miami +8 vs Clemson (SIA) -- Miami is the hottest team in the ACC
right now, and Clemson has had a ton of close calls in the ACC. Even
if the Tigers win, I expect it will probably be another close call.
Florida +1 vs Georgia (SIA)
-- Gators are the better team. They
won this matchup by 10 at home. They have road wins against South
Carolina and Alabama, teams that are comparable if not better than
Georgia. Other than one fluke loss to LSU, all of Florida's losses
have been to better teams than Georgia.
