John Witzke was the winner of the 5th RGS Baseball Weekly Contest with
a +$325 week. Congratulations John! He receives a $250 account bonus
which is reflected in the standings below. He becomes the first
person to win two weekly contests this year. No one else was a winner
last week. A new weekly contest began Monday.

HC was top scorer for the day at +$580, nice job! All four
contestants won Sunday, with John Witzke at +$410, BrianA at +$300,
and me at +$130. It was our best day of the year as a group so far.

These are the standings through Saturday. Getting caught up.

John Witzke was top scorer Saturday at +$465, his second straight day
as top scorer. Nice going John! I was also a winner at +$224, ending
a streak of 6 straight losing days.

BrianA declared, as contest rules allowed, that all his bets are
considered to be listed pitchers at the time he posts his bet. So his
bets are automatically negated due to pitching changes. Anyone else
is free to make that declaration if they wish, or else they can
continue to choose to list pitchers as they please. So far, Brian is
the only person who has done so.

2008 RGS BASEBALL CONTEST RULES

1) Everyone starts with a $5000 bankroll. If the bankroll reaches
zero, or you do not have enough left to make a legal play, with no
outstanding bets, you are out of the contest. You may not put more
money in action in a given day than your starting bankroll that day
(i.e. if you have $500 left you can't bet $500 on day games, win some
of them, and then use the winnings on night games).

2) Only regular season games and the All Star Game are part of the
contest.

3) Only money lines, totals, and run-lines are allowed. Some books
offer "reverse runlines" where you get the favorite +1.5 runs or the
dog -1.5 runs. These are NOT permitted. I do realize there are some
games that are close to a even money on the moneyline where one book
may have a different runline favorite than another; these are usually
obvious to the monitor and I will accept runlines with either team as
the favorite. Only the "primary" total offered by a book is accepted.

4) You may not make bets that oppose each other (both the over and
under on the same game; both the favorite and the dog in any
combination of money line and runline bets).

I will send out official standings when I get back home to my high
speed modem late tonight, but it appears that John Witzke is the
winner of the RGS Baseball Weekly Contest.

My unofficial tally shows that all 4 contestants yesterday made money,
led by HC at +$575, John at +$410, Brian at +$300, and me at +$130.
That puts John around +$325 for the week and I believe he is the only
winner for the week, and thus is the winner of his second weekly
contest of the year.
