HC was the top scorer on Saturday at +$277. Nice handicapping! RS
was also a winner at +$231, as was I at +$95.

Heading into the final day of the weekly contest I have a commanding
lead at +$1264 fro the week. Greg Walker is at +$102, but he must
make two more plays to qualify for the weekly title. RS is next at +
$4 for the week.

With two weeks remaining in the May Monthly Contest I lead at +$2477,
followed by John Witzke at +$1030, RS at +$524, and Greg Walker at +

  Update from Inventor

Author: Inventor
Date: May 17, 2008 13:24

Hello everybody! This is Inventor, you may remember that I am the
newbie who won the reg.gambling.sports NFL contest last year with an
unexpectedly excellent performance from the sports prediction program
Jacqueline. That was immense fun and thanks to all who participated
in the contest for making it an enjoyable experience.

I regret to report that I have not been reading the newsgroup since my
last post around February of this year (2008) or so, because I have
gotten completely hooked on creating computer generated music using
the programming language from Princeton University called "ChucK". I
bet you don't give a hoot about that so I'll get back to the point...

I'm looking forward to releasing my Predict program as freeware soon,
and I have given some thought to releasing my Jacqueline program which
performed at over 70%% success rate for the last few weeks of the
2007/2008 NFL season. I have emailed Predict to a friend and I'm
going to see if he is able to install it and run it properly before
releasing it to everybody, mainly because I wouldn't want to release
something that wasn't properly set up and then have a bunch of people
run into the same problem.

Mets -132 vs Yankees (Intertops)
-- Yankees are weaker vs lefties,
especially with A-Rod and Posada on the shelf, and they face the best
lefty starter in baseball today. Mets actually hit lefties better,
and Pettitte has been knocked around for 5 runs in 3 of his last 4
starst and the Yankees have lost his last 4 starts.

May 17th, 2008

Interleague action is in full swing after last night's contests
with a couple of series being postponed due to rain.

Yankees/Mets along with Brewers/Red Sox will try to get two in on
Saturday which can always be a home crowd favorite....the ol' two for
one deal. It is especially nice when the home team manages to sweep a
pair.

St Louis dropped the first game of their series with the Devil
Rays, who remain red hot and in the lead in the AL East. Cardinals
will be looking to bounce back with the arm of Wainwright. Wainwright
is coming off a subpar road start in his last work so a home rebound
is what the Cardinals will be looking for. Tampa Bay pitching has been
on a roll, but can they really continue to pitch this well? I am
backing the home side in this one and expect to see St. Louis get the
win.

Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown is the prohibitive 1-2 favorite for
Saturday's 133rd Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore,
MD. The colt will face 12 other three-year-olds in the $1 million, 1
3/16 mile race. Owned by IEAH Stables and Paul Pompa Jr., Big Brown is
undefeated in four career starts, having won the races by a total of
nearly 34 lengths. The three-year-old will again be ridden by Kent
Desormeaux and the pair will start from post seven. Desormeaux won the
1998 Preakness aboard Real Quiet.
Arkansas Derby champ Gayego is the only other Kentucky Derby horse to
be entered in the second leg of racing's Triple Crown.
A victory on Saturday would put Big Brown just one win, the Belmont
Stakes, away from...
