  Brief Unofficial RGS Standings Update

Author: SteveA
Date: May 4, 2008 08:42

No time for a full standings update today, but a very quick,
unverified check of yesterdays picks shows we had two winners: John
Witzke at +465 and me at +224.

Going into the last day of the weekly contest, NO ONE has shown a
winning record for the week. John Witzke at -$85 is the closest.
Everyone else who has played this week is AT LEAWT 500 in the hole for
the week. Some of us are far worse than that! So either John has to
win $86 or more today, someone who hasn't played in the contest this
week makes at least 5 bets and shows a profit, one of the rest of us
has a HUGE day to overcome the deficit he has built up this week, or
else we will not have a weekly winner this week.

Yestrday: 4-1, +3.24 units
Season: 83-83, -5.13 units

Mariners +120 vs Yankees (SIA) -- Until Rasner proves he can pitch
in the majors, he shouldn't be a favorite.

Padres -105 vs Marlins (Intertops)

Nationals -110 vs Pirates (SIA)

Giants +1.5 runs -145 vs Phillies (SIA) -- Giant pitching is
keeping them close. Only 2 losses by more than a run in the past 13
games; none on the year when Lincecum has pitched.

Dodgers/Rockies under 9.5 -110 (SIA)

Angels -1.5 runs +115 vs Orioles (Intertops)
-- Virginia Tech alum
Joe Saunders off to a fantastic start this year.

A's -1.5 runs +135 vs Rangers (Intertops)

Cardinals -110 vs Cubs (SIA)

  NBA Playoffs: Second Round Predictions

Author: mosesjgunner
Date: May 4, 2008 01:44

http://Jaajoe.com 's foolish predictions for the second round.

1.

Jazz/Lakers. I think that Jerry Sloan is a slightly superior
coach, but his slight superiority is due to the fact that, even though
Phil Jackson is old enough to know better, at times he still falls
into the trap of believing that he is more important than his players.
In addition, I think that Utah is more mentally determined, and will
take this series in seven games.
2.

Magic/Pistons. Flip Saunders is a worthless coach. Stan Van
Gundy is the hardest working coach in the NBA. Based solely on the
coaching inequity, I pick the Magic to win in six.
3.

Celtics/Cavaliers. Mike Brown is a better coach than Doc Rivers,
but LeBron is still a distraction. Celtics in six.
4.

Spurs/Hornets. Spurs in six.

From http://spor
Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is a succulent herb commonly found in
South Africa. In doses as low as 50 mg, users have reported
improvements in mood, decreased anxiety, relaxation and a sense of
well-being. The alkaloids contained in S. tortuosum are believed to
possess psychoactivity include: mesembrine, mesembrenone, mesembrenol
and tortuosamine.[29]

Mesembrine is a major alkaloid present in Sceletium tortuosum, which
has been shown to be a potent serotonin reuptake inhibitor (more so
than imipramine),[30] and a PDE4-inhibitor (less so than rolipram).
[31]

Sceletium tortuosum contains about 1-1.5%% total alkaloids. There is
about 0.3%% mesembrine in the leaves and 0.86%% in the stems of the
plant.

...BWEEHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...fooled ya once again, it's your old talkin' horse
friend Mr. Ed bweeeheee with another edition of $$$ Kentucky Derby winners
$$$...for all those who drank Ray Gordon's mint-julep kool-aid, well it was
actually my morning urination session in the kool-aid pitcher BWEEEHEEEE (
no wonder the Churchill medic has been busy this morning bweeeee *snort*
*snmort* *snort*) as you need to pyle on with PYRO at 5/1 , as he rebounds
from a uncharacteristic poor Keeneland showing with a late stretch surge
that he showed at the Louisiana, while 4/1 COLONEL JOHN is as safe as any to
be among the top 2 finishers, dominating Santa Anita. The Ed man always
brings it hard with KDerby long shots (never mind the "money shot" on
McBride's sister BWEEEEHEEEE) , going with GAYEGO...

RGS Baseball Contest Standings through May 2

Author: SteveA
Date: May 3, 2008 08:40

The contest had been in an awful slide this week that saw us lose
$3800 in 4 days as a group. Most of us (basically everyone but me)
came out of the slump Friday. John Witzke led the way with a big +
$630 day, making him high scorer for the day. Congrats John! HC (+
$570) and RS (+$382) were also winners.

We welcomed the 6th entrant to our contest for the year, BrianA, who
has participated all four years now and has championships to his
name. New contesants are welcome to join at any time, I realized I
haven't posted the rules in a while but I am travelling right now and
don't have easy access to them. Search the past month for post with
"RGS Baseball Contest Rules" in the title if you are interestedin
joining. I'll post them when I get home.

With two days left in the weekly contest, no one is showing a profit
for the week although RS is very close. If no one has a winning week
with at least 5 games played, there will be no weekly champion. I
believe we have avoided that occurrence for over 3 years now, so
someone needs to step up this week!

Yesterday: 2-6, -4.80 units
Season: 79-82, -8.57 units

Always amazed by how streaky baseball betting can be. A week ago I
was +6.43 units for the year.

White Sox +106 vs Blue Jays (Intertops)
-- Jays have pathetic #s vs
lefties and Danks has pitched great for Chicago this year.

Diamondbacks -1.5 runs +115 vs Mets (SIA)
