With the regular season coming to a close, I just want to acknowledge
the unbelievable job you do with this baseball contest. And even
though there were a few errors last few days, for the most part,
through a 162 game season, you are practically error free, like 99.9%%.
Impressive. Your dedication is admirable, and you are definitely a
member of the RGS Hall of Fame. Your like one of those guys that when
the core of us are still posting here twenty years from now, you're a
lock for a lifetime achievment award. ;-) Thanks for another great
baseball season.
HC

Hey buddy,
Congratulations to you and your Eastern PA brethren and the
Philadelphia Phillies.
Everybody's talking about the Mets collapse, but that wouldn't have
mattered if the Phils hadn't put together a remarkable, memorable run
in the second half of September. I believe this is the biggest
September comeback in baseball history, or something like that, you
should be PROUD to be a Phillies supporter at this time.
Good luck to the Phillies in the playoffs, I hope they bring home a
World Championship for all the diehards that have been supporting
Philadelphia baseball all these years through thick and thin, mostly
thin.
And if you start thinking that "same old Phillies" crap, remember what
one of the most prolific Mets players of all time, a guy that finished
his career with the Phillies had to say . . .
"Ya gotta believe!" - Tug McGraw (August 30, 1944 - Jabuary 5, 2004)
Peace out,
HC

Thanks HC! I mis-scored one of AlexS's plays. Alex was actually +
$395 for the day, very nice day!
That also means that Alex is way out in front of the weekly contest at
+$395, ahead of Bushay who is at +$105.
Not to mention that he is creeping up on me for 3rd place overall.

The RGS baseball contest has been extended by one game...the Padre/
Rockie game tomorrow to decide the NL wildcard. That game counts as
part of the regular season contest, the September Monthly Contest, and
the September 24-30 Weekly Contest (so if you have used your BOTW this
week, you don't have another one for tomorrow's game).
AlexS was top scorer on Sunday at +$109. Congratulations Alex! In
fact, he was our only top scorer.
The only contest really left undecided is the last weekly contest.
With tomorrow's one game remaining, AlexS leads at +$109, followed by
Bushay at +$105. (Of course, Bushay is only in the playoffs by $80,
and the minimum bet is $100, so if Bushay were to take a stab at
trying to win the weekly contest and lose, he would risk falling out
of the playoffs with a loss.

NOTE: These are the standings through Saturday, September 29. The
standings through today's game will be posted shortly. Note that the
unofficial update I posted from my hotel in Blacksburg this morning
was incorrect because when I started those unofficial updates on
Saturday morning, I accidentally started adding the Friday scores to
the PRE-Thursday scores of each of the top 3 contestants, rather than
to the POST-Thursday scores. I didn't catch the error and neither did
anyone else, that I can tell, although it made a huge difference in
Brian's total and a fairly big one in mine.
BrianA was our top scorer on Saturday at +$311. It was his second
consecutive day as top scorer. Congratulations Brian! RS also was a
winner at +$244.
In the overall contest, heading into the last scheduled day of
competition, RS maintained a lead of a little over $100 over Brian,
and I had fallen over $600 off the pace. HC still had a big lead in
the Monthly contest, although Brian had gotten to within $1000 of
him. And Bushay was leading the weekly contest, at +$105, with BrianA
a close 2nd at $78.
