  Investing in Independent Film

Author: Ovation
Date: Oct 29, 2006 23:08

Investing in Independent Film has traditionally been in the high
risk / high reward category. Typically investors sunk millions into a
film hoping to win the film lottery with a big blockbuster.
Unfortunately, using that method is about as successful as buying a
real lottery ticket.

In a business filled with conflicting opinions which so often cause
investors to make their investment decisions based on emotions rather
then logic. Filmmakers need help on several fronts, going to
pre-market the movie, position it for festivals, work with the press,
work with the festivals for the best slotting possible, come up with a
strategy for launching the film, deal with the buyers and, ultimately,
negotiate whatever deals come along. With these deals comes the need
for experts who can crunch numbers and negotiate their complex terms.

Ovation Financial Group has a team of highly experienced finance
professionals who advise clients in the multi-billion dollar motion
picture market. Ovation's unique, integrated organization will
skillfully take our clients from pre-financing to post-production. It
can be a profitable business for those who approach it intelligently.

Luckily Bush nailed his ass shortly after 9/11.

In 2005 your Republican congress passed

HR 2360, Homeland Security Department FY 2006 Appropriations Act

Language embedded in this law allows for the government "to plan,
construct, renovate, equip, and maintain buildings and facilities
necessary for the administration and enforcement of the laws relating
to customs and immigration". Once the camps are built, they can be used
by ANY GOVERNMENT AGENCY, IN ANY EMERGENCY (emphasis added)

Among the billions of tax dollars appropriated by this law is a $385
million contract to build the centers for the Homeland Security
Department for an unexpected influx of immigrants, to house people in
the event of a natural disaster or for new programs that require
additional detention space.

The contract was awarded to KBR, a subsidary of Halliburton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now why would your Republican government need "camps" for the sudden
"emergency" detentions of large numbers of people...?

I am headed to Vancouver for work for a week. Any suggestions for
poker?

I have read about River Rock maybe being the biggest place in town &
also about Edgewater being new and nice????

I will be downtown, so I am not terribly interested in anything that
isn't a cheap cab ride away. Also, I prefer PL and NL. Limit isn't my
bag.

Any help would be appreciated!

ADV-NEWS, FEMA emergency team charged with saving lives after a terror attack, crippled by funding cut.

FEMA team crippled by funding cut
Oct. 28, 2006 at 1:20PM

An emergency U.S. team charged with saving lives after a terror attack has had
its budget cut so severely its response rate does not meet federal standards.

"If getting there early is going to save lives, we are not going to save as many
lives," said Charles Goldstein, commander of the 90-member unit.

The Denver-based team of doctors, nurses and paramedics -- a unique unit in the
107-team National Disaster Medical System -- is supposed to mobilize within
hours, then fly into chaos and work through the crucial first few days after an
attack to contain casualties.

But overspending has mired the system in debt, forcing the suspension of funding
for such Federal Emergency Management Agency teams, The Denver Post reported.

The Denver team now requires eight hours to mobilize, two hours more than the
FEMA standard, for lack of a functioning centralized pager-notification system,
Goldstein said.

He blamed poor FEMA oversight.

$1,200 per night playing in sit-n-go tournaments

President Bush has signed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement
Act into law as was expected.

This measure threatens to topple a $12 billion a year industry and some
offshore online casinos will no longer accept new US players. Some
like Party Poker have even banned the play of current US accounts.
HOWEVER, DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED. YOU CAN STILL PLAY ONLINE POKER!

The new law doesn't make it a crime to play poker online. It simply
blocks banks from processing gambling winnings. There are simple ways
around the regulations. The reality is that the means of funding
gambling accounts cannot be stopped.

You can still make money playing online poker if you know the right
strategies. The newest and best poker product out today is Sit-N-Go
Pro. Find out how online poker players are hauling in up to $1,200 per
night playing in sit-n-go tournaments in spite of the new laws.

  OT: Iraq Solution.

Author: Bryan Kimmes

President Bush request that the United Nations convien for a special
speech.......

In the speech, apologize for the whole Iraq ordeal. I'm not talking about a
half-hearted apology either, issue a real apology to the United Nations,
straight from W's mouth.

In closing the speech, ask the U.N. for help/advice/ideas on what the next best
moveĀ in Iraq is. Not a 'cut and run' type move, if whatever the U.N. comes up
with requires more/less troups we can accomidate. We will still be right in
their cleaning up our own mess, we are just looking for a direction.

If there is a solution, that is the best place to look.

  Anybody beating Badugi?

Author: Omaha Chris

I guess Doyle's Room is the only place that spreads this online, and I'm
thinking of opening account there (partly because it's U.S. friendly,
partly to try Badugi), but I'm assuming this game already has an
established stable of regulars who have carved out a niche.

Any money in the game?
