Being cheap I hate to throw out a whole lot of oil so a deep fat fryer
wasn't in the equasion at all for me. I'm cooking for only 2.

On the way to the campsite I realized I'd forgotten a pan to cook in.
So I picked up a cheap-o 6" cast iron skillet for $6.

Hey, it's great. As I was seasoning it, I realized it would be a good
deep fat fryer. Well, 1" deep. I like being able to reach all the
food for flipping over. The weight gives good stability
-- no danger
of the pot going flying like a flimsy s/s or aluminum one.

I love ALL my Lodge cookware. Soon you will be looking for a Lodge
outlet store!

There is nothing better than chicken fried steak cooking in cast iron.
