I'm not going to say that freezer paper works much better than Foodsaver
bags, but it can work just as good and better if you count the price.
I've done it before and have pulled perfectly good whole chickens,
venison steaks, etc. out of the freezer after being wrapped in freezer
paper and using freezer tape for a couple of years.
Just make sure you do a decent job wrapping the item. I use a roll &
fold approach just like wrapping a present. Make sure to fold any edge
over twice and taping the entire seam. You can't just do a sloppy wrap
and use 1/2" of tape and expect anything to last.
