These are funny, but if we put our collective minds together, we can do
better!

  Knitted [metal] armor

We went to an opening of Archeological finds in Shikmona [ -15th
centurt BCE] , which is the oldest part from which Haifa grew.
Findings are mainly statuettes, ceramics, glass each period and it `s
findings. But in the other part of the museum they now have an
Exhibition about Pirates boats ,,,, wonderful knots are shown ,
wonderful crimshaw art, and an Armor Vest that looks as if it`s
knitted from metal threads ,,, of course it isn`t but ......

  Swallowtail Shawl

This was my first "real" lace. Every time I walk into the dining room where
it is blocking I am amazed that I knit it. I've seen so many gorgeous
pictures of other people's lace shawls and can't believe that I have made
one myself now!

Thanks for looking!

ot How Did Kitty Hawk Gets its Name?

How did Kitty Hawk get its name?
North Carolina is the home of the Wright Brothers' National Monument
and Visitor Center, near Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills. The center
contains a recently refurbished replica of the original Wright Flyer
as well as other "First Flight" memorabilia. The center commemorates
one of America's historic moments. A nearby sand dune supports the
Memorial Pylon. On the grounds, there are historical markers and a
reconstructed hanger and shop. Called Chickahauk by native Indians,
some believe "Kitty Hawk" is the closest English pronunciation of the
Indian phrase meaning "goose hunting grounds". Once a remote area,
Kitty Hawk has grown into a summer resort area and provides some of
the best beach recreation on the North Carolina coast

  Summer of Socks 2008

Author: LauraJ

I don't recall seeing anyone post about this but forgive me if I just don't
remember. If anyone is interested in doing a sock knit-along with, oh, like
1000 other people this summer, then you might want to check out
http://zarzuelaknitsandcrochets.com/blog/?p=394. You do not have to have a
blog but if you don't have one you need either a Ravelry or a flickr account
to post pictures (I'll be using Ravelry since I am still, sadly, blogless).
The sign-ups close tomorrow.

I haven't done this (or any other online knit-along) but it seemed like a
fun way to find out about other sock patterns and yarns. I've started
collecting since I noticed my sock yarn stash was down to 2 pairs-worth. I
bought 2 skeins from Ravelry's FSOT board already and just got a birthday
gift certificate to my favorite LYS so will be picking up a couple more
skeins in the very near future.

Is anyone else doing this?

A little afraid of what I've gotten myself into,

Hi All

I just finished my Hanami Shawl last month. I don't think I sent a link to
a picture of it, but if I did, just ignore me. Forgetfulness comes with age
(hee hee). I love this shawl. It's light as a feather and I've worn it
quite a lot.
