You did very well!!! I like it- but one little suggestion- maybe some more
of the golden/brown color across the top where all the green and tan is
right now? Other than that it looks like you captured exactly what you
wanted to express! Good job!!!

  Foundation Paper Piecing Primer

Author: nzlstar*
Date: Feb 29, 2008 14:47

http://mccallsquilting.com/pbp_index/

here is just one of many FPP primer to read/look thru.
its basically sewing thru the paper on the lines exactly
from the back side of the fabric.
sew with small stitches so the paper is perforated and
easier to remove.
trim each seam as you go or you'll have some thickness to
deal with later, no fun that.
press each seam well as you go also, keeps it all neat and
clean a step at a time.
you'll get very precise seams/points with this method.

been a bad grandaughter - need ideas

Author: Anne Rogers

I've been a very bad grandaughter and forgotten my grandad's 75th
birthday - the worrying thing is, even when my gran sent me an email
entitled "birthday" I had no idea what she was talking about - I haven't
shared with my family some of the health issues I've been having
recently, so though I know I've got a reasonable excuse, I'm just the
bad grandaughter, what's worse is I'm the only grandchild with kids, so
my default ALL his great grandchildren have failed to make the occasion.

Believing everything can be put right with a quilt, I want to give him
something to make the occasion. They live in Cyprus, so I was thinking a
wall hanging. He was a mathematician, so I'd been wondering about
something along those lines, but I'm also thinking that including photos
would be a good idea, I'm intending on a fabric photo frame, rather than
transferring the photos onto fabric, I've done that before, by tucking
half inch wide flaps around the whole photo, another option would be
photo corners.

  OT: and the saga continues

Ok, so Tom is doing a little better..stil coughing and sniffling and
sounding awful, but he's taking his medicines and eating since I'm not
putting him on his ADHD meds while he's home.

Here's the weeks recap:

Monday, hubby had his ultrasound for his kidneys - gets it ebery 2 years
or so

Tuesday, I had an eye doctor's appointment and wound up with the
dilation drops that resulted in a horrendous migraine.

Wednesday, Tom woke up shivering with a high fever, so I ran him to the
walk-in hours at the doc, they did strep culture, ran Bek to preschool,
then ran back to my appointment for a thyroid biopsy - 5 needles, no
Lidicanie or anything else to numb it - back home for quick shower and
something to eat, then ran back to get Bek

  Language conversion

Author: Kate G.

I found a BOM posted online that I really like... Christmas themed.. house blocks... but it is not in English.

My guess is that it is Norwegian, Swedish... or something similar....

Here is some of the text:

Quilten:

Can anyone tell me what language this is? Then I can maybe try to translate it!

Thanks!

  Foundation Piecing

Author: Steph
Date: Feb 29, 2008 10:41

As I fall victim to my quickly growing obsession...I'm reading away
everything I can get my hands on and seeing what styles "speak" to me.
I love the kaleidoscope quilts, dimensions and depth play in the block
quilts, and the awesome designs of the mariners compass designs. I'm
plugging away on my first sampler but I have high aspirations!

So my question is about foundation piecing. I know you use this with
crazy quilts but I was reading a book on kaleidoscope quilts and
several of the quilters said they used foundation piecing and then
another pattern book for mariners compass said it used this method.
Being a newbie I'm not really familiar with this technique. Can anyone
tell me what the advantages of using this technique? Does it always
involve paper piecing?

  OT: Moving Day has come

Author: Dannielle

Ok ladies and gents, the big "M" has come. I've got ten thousand
things to get done before DH picks up the moving van at 7am Saturday,
and I'm trying to do them without my 3yo and 1.5yo getting too
terrible hurt (not good to run over small children while moving boxes
and packing things up!).

I don't know when I'll get computer access up and running at the new
house. But I'll probably be gone for a few days. I'll read more
tonight, but just don't have time to post. I appreciate all of the
chatter on the Focus on Color thread and on the Cherrywood Fabrics
request for information. It's definitely helping to keep me sane
while I look at my poor Bernie sitting in her case ready for
moving....

Be good whilst I am gone!

Dannielle
