Gwalior State.
Mutilated stationery,
half anna Queen Victoria cancelled 27th April 1898
with crown over date, office unclear.
Handstruck motif of Gwalior State.
Legend has it, the founder of Gwalior, whilst a baby, was shaded
by the burning rays of the hot sun, by the outstretched coils of the
two Cobras.

Hi all,
When I buy or exchange from or with others, the postage stamps were not
cancelled in some cases. This means that I may send to foreign collectors
for "re-using" it so as to reduce his/her postage cost.
Do you think it is not ethical?

Hi there -
I have a question about the paper that was used for the 1929-1930
parcel post stamps of Belgium. The 3, 4, 5, 6 & 4 sur 6 Franc
Brussels Central Post Office issues.
The C.O.B. (standard for Belgian dealers) catalog states that there
are varieties of the paper on the 3 & 4 Franc.
"papier undulé horizontalement"
In English translationese, this means - paper undulating horizontally.
Undulating meaning "waves" or some such. If someone can give me la
française version, please do.
I have, however, seen one stamp so far with what at first looked like
horizontal line cancel, but was in the paper itself. This is not wavy
looking straight on, but sideways it may refer to the line raised
somewhat on the paper, or the illusion of such?
An example cannot be given, except in real-time because of the way
this paper exhibits said properties - except perhaps to take a digital
picture in a watermark container. Hmmm... an idea.
So, in the final analysis, -could- the term above be: horizontally
lined paper?

AFDCS RECEIVES $2,000 GRANT FOR EDUCATION PROGRAMS
The Martin Sosin/Stratton-Petit Foundation has awarded a $2,000 grant
to the American First Day Cover Society (AFDCS) for its youth
education program. The money will be used to promote youth cachet
design and other youth activities.
It's the third year in a row the AFDCS has received a grant from the
foundation.
"As Youth Coordinator for the American First Day Cover Society, I am
thankful for the grant award which will help perpetuate education of
our youth and instill future interest in our wonderful hobby," said
Lee Taylor.
"In previous years, the grant money from the Martin
Sosin/Stratton-Petit Foundation has been used to purchase art supplies
and stamps for the creation of commemorative and first day covers,"
Taylor added. "The youth become interested cachetmaking through
contests sponsored by local chapters of the American First Day Cover
Society."
