(RCSD) Time: A stamp's rite of passage

Author: rodney

Soaking modern stamps, had me thinking often,
on how only the future would judge my industry.

Then, reading "street life in medieval England"
(G.T.Salusbury 1952)
I saw it very aptly put,
"Papers become dull before they become interesting"
http://cjoint.com/data/cndzZmKTfF.htm

Last week I was reading a report on stamps from may 1850
and the author claimed, on I assume the Penny Red and siblings,
"The dye itself is hideous and comtemptible"
"The design a gross libel on Her majesty's countenance, muddled
in line work, and dirty in printing"

For me, also, time is a necessary ingredient, to appreciate flavour.

  Help With Portuguese Colonies

I am trying to make some album pages for the Ceres issues of the
various Portuguese colonies. Scott mentions there are different
perforations (e.g. 15 x 14, 12 x 11.5) for these issues, but does not
identify the individual stamps for each perforation. I know the Michel
catalog identifies these issues and I am sure Afinsa does as well, but
my local library does not have these catalogs. Would anyone be able to
supply me with a listing (scanned pages or Excel sheets) for each
colony? I was going to make the pages to supplement William Steiner's
pages from Stampalbums.com. I can forward the finished product if you
can help me.
Thanks
Dave
