I am continuing to do research on the post office in Arenas Valley,
New Mexico, but there are conflicting dates.
In a previous discussion here, in 2001, Ada Prill said she had found
the opening date December 20, 1944 on a government web site. The link
she provided is no longer working.
Olga Mae Harper (mother of my childhood friend, Ernest Harper) was
apparently the first postmaster; she was appointed on December 13,
1946, according to a copy of the official document in my possession,
signed by the then-Postmaster General Robert Hannegan. See
http://www.ingraham.ca/bob/~IMAGES/harper_appointment_web.jpg.
On a private web site providing opening and closing dates of New
Mexico post offices, the Arenas Valley post office opened on January
1, 1947. However, the same web page also gives October 25, 1946 as the
date Mrs. Harper became postmaster. See http://newmexicoalhn.net/pogrant.htm.
I obviously cannot discount the evidence of Mrs. Harper's appointment,
but the date the post office actually opened for business is in doubt.
Can anyone provide any additional information that might clarify this
question?
Bob Ingraham

That is why the OP was complaining.
He had the Ebay IM to notify him of higher bids.
There were no messages from Ebay, which seems to indicate that there were no
higher bids than his.

THAT IS WHAT THE OP IS COMPLAINING ABOUT, DUMMY!!
There is no way that in last few seconds, from a high bid of $333, that the
seller can legally sell for $610, as detailed.

Successful Literature at Sport-O-Net
Sport-O-Net was the first virtual competitive philatelic exhibition
organised by Virtual Exhibitions EXPONET and the Union of Czech Philatelists
(SCF). Exhibits with the spot themes were judged in November 2007 by an
international jury according to the FIP rules.
There were also seven exhibits of the philatelic literature. The most
successful exhibit of the whole exhibition was the book "The Olympic Issue
of 1906" by Michaelis E. Tsironis from Greece. It was awarded Large Gold
Medal (95 points). Selected pages from this book and the other exhibits can
be seen at http://www.japhila.cz/sportonet "Journal of Sports Philately"
(Mark Maestrone, USA) was awarded Vermeil Medal (83 points).
Other literature exhibits - information magazines and brochures...

With this sheet of Danish Christmas Seals 2007 I wish all and everyone on
RCSD a blessed holiday season.

Thanks to everyone for their support, kind emails and private notes I have
received. in connection with my recent stroke. My health condition is
slowly improving, but is not (yet) well enough to participate fully in the
discussions here, so it will probably be another couple of months before I
am back to my own good self.

What a nice surprise! Thank you all. Yes, I aim to be around a few
