anyone used sea clear software? i used it years ago but just
rediscovered it...downloaded the NOAA charts...free and it's great!
havent figured it all out yet but it beats paying $20 for charts

It all depends on the boat and how much you use it. We've owned our
GB49 for 6 years and have used it about 720 days. That works out to
a fully loaded cost of about $500/day. Typical charter cost for a
comparable boat is about $1000/day plus fuel so we are doing OK and
the boat is equipped and maintained the way we want it. I'm guessing
that break even is about 50 or 60 days/year or about 1 day per week.

just sold my old garmin gpsmap on ebay so am now in market for cheap,
new chartplotter
looking at Standard Horizon CP180I Chartplotter which gets good
reviews and is about $420 at

or Garmin MAP 421S GPS CHARTPLOTTER available for $380.
