Just got off the phone with Avmap support.

Club avmap is back in business so regular, scheduled, automatic updates
are available again.

The current software requires a 512MB CF card, so if you haven't
upgraded, be prepared to.

XM weather will be available by the end of the year pending testing
results. This is a slip from the original spring 07 release.

Weather will be a software update and a small XM box that will interface
through the serial port.

When asked why they weren't building it in, I was told that Garmin
had a lock on licenses for the technology.

Right. Verne has been promising XM weather for the AvMap for
years...to no avail.

I wish AvMap well, but I'm not holding my breath.
