F-104 North American Eagle to run for landspeed record

Author:
Date: May 31, 2008 20:01

Hi Everyone,
I realize this really isn't the proper place to mention this but this is a
"distantly" related subject. Please forgive me if I P O some of you...I
apologize. I'm sure most if not all of you know about the Lockheed F-104
Starfighter that has been majorly altered and made into a land vehicle and
is going to be used to attempt to break the world's landspeed record. If
the North American Eagle, as it's been named, does break the landspeed
record, this team will bring the record back to the USA after 17 years ( I
think ). I am hoping a good number of us will take a look at the north
American Eagle's website. What these people are doing is super exciting.
Personally I wish I was close enough to help out. I am also hoping most or
all of you will donate some bucks to...

OT: Video of Alien in Nebraska

Author: muff528

I'm sure we've all seen the single frame from the video of the alien that
was released to the media. I found it very difficult to make out the alien's
image in the window so I took the liberty of enhancing the image using the
latest technology available. In skilled hands this enhancement software has
revealed a stunning and, I'm sure, culturally shocking glimpse into the
largely unknown (at least to humankind) universe. As we have heard many
times before....."WE ARE NOT ALONE!"
Now finally here is photographic evidence. Rather than post this enhanced
image to the binaries, I have linked to it so that those of you whose belief
system will not accept this reality may choose to ignore it and continue
blathering on about such mundane subjects like "how does a bird fly" or "how
do I get...

  Clouds and Class B

You've been cleared into Class B VFR, and you've been assigned a heading.
After a while you see that your heading will take you through some clouds, and
you asked to be cleared on a different heading, 40 degrees to the right. ATC
says unable and gives a plausible reason why. What do you do?

Incredibly - and this luck has held twice in five days now for
aircraft laden with A1 - the fuselage didn't conflagrate.

There's another report today of the miraculous escape of nearly all on
board on another aircraft; two people died (pilot one of them,
sadly)... http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/05/30/spain.air.ap/index.html.
The cause of the crash is very, very rare - a wing coming off!

Is Anyone In Southern Calif. Going Flying This Weekend?

Author: Gerry
Date: May 30, 2008 17:46

Hi-

It's been awhile since I've posted, though I've been reading when I
can and very much appreciate all those who contribute to these groups.
I do apologize for posting this to both groups but, for this request,
it seemed appropriate.

I've been grounded since I got laid off and then tried to get my own
business going. By the time I had to stop my lessons, I had logged 41
hours towards my PP certificate. I'm looking for real work now
(meaning steady income), and as soon as I find it and catch up on the
bills, I hope to be back flying.

The problem is, not being up in the air is driving me absolutely
crazy! I'm desperate to go flying with someone, even if I don't touch
the controls at all.

Is anyone in L.A. County or western San Bernardino or Riverside
counties going flying sometime this weekend? Are any of you going up
to stay current, do some time-building, get a hamburger at some
airport other than your own, etc.? If so, is there any chance I could
tag along as a front seat passenger? Please?!
