I have a Pilot Avionics PA400-3BL that needs to have the cable
replaced. Anyone have a suggestion on where to buy a replacement
cable or where to send it for repairs? Unless I overlooked it, their
website doesn't list any replacement parts or a repair service.
Thanks,
John

Knocked out a couple of approaches today in IMC conditions. Was cut
short due to a vacuum system problem (note, not the pump).
Ceilings 1500 at KJAN and 1400 on my approach into KMBO.

Just after entering the clouds, saw my attitude indicator show an
extraordinary pitch up. Quick scan of my airspeed and VSI did not
confirm. Since I was IMC decided to continue approach and just work
my partial panel skills. Turning back wasn't an option.
In the full scheme of things, no big deal.
Camera was placed on glare shield for the outside view since I didn't
have a passenger It would have been nice to capture the
instrumentation discrepancies if anything for others to see it happen
under real conditions .but somebody had to man the shop and reaching
for the camera myself was not an option in IMC..

I am looking for a GPS instrument approach at an airport in the USA
where the airport buildings are closer to the runway than required by
TERPS(?).
Operational restrictions due to buildings are fine.

There is a third possibility. Google the term "overbanking tendency".

From the FAA Airplane Flying Handbook:
For purposes of this discussion, turns are divided into
three classes: shallow turns, medium turns, and steep
turns.

That depends on which aircraft model you are using. The default aircraft, as
a general rule, are less realistic than add-on aircraft; sometimes the
differences are striking. The basic sim is fundamentally capable of more than
the default aircraft provide, even if it is hardly perfect.

Here's a learning opportunity involving the effects of hangars on
crosswind correction, as well as soft-field operations. I used to rent
this aircraft and noticed that it disappeared from the flight line last
summer.
" 14 CFR Part 91: General Aviation...
Aircraft: Cessna 172M, registration: NXXXX
Injuries: 1 Uninjured.
During the takeoff roll in a 30 degree crosswind of about 12 knots, the
aircraft passed on the leeward side of a number of hangars of varying
size. As the aircraft passed through the area where the wind was blocked
by the individual hangars into areas where the wind was not blocked, the
student pilot failed to adequately compensate for the resultant change
in wind velocity and direction. As the student pilot continued the
takeoff, the aircraft departed the side of the runway, impacted a
taxiway exit sign, and entered into an area of wet, soft ground. The
student pilot then pulled the power to idle and applied "full brakes."
The nose gear then dug into the terrain and ultimately collapsed. There
were no anomalies found in the rudder or nose wheel steering systems.
