One correction, it was and still is 123,000 feet or 37,650 meters.
That record was set by a Mig-25M in 1977. It blew away the
Streak Eagles 102,000 feet absolute record done in 1975.
Of course, the Mig25M was about as much a fighter as the Streak
Eagle was and the A-5 before it was an attack Plane.
Are you aware of the tremendous amount of missiles that were
fired on the Mig-25PD in the Middle East for such a paltry number
killed? And the first Fighter to Fighter kill went to a Mig25PD.
It bagged a F-18. Most of them saw what they were up against
and ran their little keisters off. They ran quite a gambit to
get back to Bagdad. Before you go off on this one, This is
according to Janes and a few others.
