I've worked for and with engineers from all over the world. Any possible
difference between races or nationalities is swamped by the variation among
individuals. Culture may show up in their education but not in their
creativity or problem-solving ability, as long as they are willing to risk
being wrong. That group dynamic is the only real difference I've noticed.
Once I was loaned to a Chinese female engineer to do the delicate
microscopic assembly that she couldn't. A NASA engineer watching me work
commented that once he had seen a Thai craftsman engrave tiny lettering on a
pinhead, so I wrote my name freehand 1/50 inch high.
