Luftwaffe '46 Hypothetical Bomber Stream Missile

It is a simple missile body with straight wings and tail planes, much
in the same fashion as in a V-1. The engine is a used BMW 003 jet
engine that has surpassed its intended timelife, so in its final duty
only performs a one-way trip. Kerosene fuel and a large warhead of two
tons. Guidance can be active by TV, radar, IR signal, or by sound.

In this drawing, a radar guidance system is the chosen option: the
missile steers itself to the point of maximum signal; then, when the
sound of piston engines is maximal, the fuse is activated.

No one can survive severely undamaged in a radius of 1-2 kilometers.

  Ultra-Rare Miles 1943 UCAV Project!!!

Author: Rob Arndt

The Miles Hoop-La dates from 1941-43.

It was a remotely piloted (via radio control) light aircraft capable
of carrying a semi-conformal 1,000lb bomb, which was powered by a DH
Gypsy Queen engine.

But unlike the V-1, Misteln, and US Aphrodite programs, the Hoop-La
was designed to drop its bomb and then RETURN back home to land for re-
use!

A remarkable idea at the time (but not original).

It was shelved as impractical and is rarely known.

Rob

p.s. The Austrians actually developed the very first UCAV balloons in
1849 with timers to spark the ignition of bombs being dropped over
Venecia. Some of them worked, most were thrown off-target by the
wind!!!

Mossie with a Cookie or Not???

Caption at site I got this claims it's a cookie, but that would be
4,000 lbs!!!

They also have another photo with another cylindrical bomb and says it
a 1,000 lb.

They look the same, so I think someone got it wrong.

What's your opinion?

Wear a Military Medal or Ribbon this Weekend

All veterans can help remind America that Memorial Day is a Day of
Remembrance and not a Day of Sales or Day to Party.

America's wartime sacrificers are out of sight and out of mind when they
are not remembered and honored by the men and women they served with. Help
America to Remember on Remembrance Day. Wear a military medal or ribbon.

  Mistel question

Following mention of Mistels in a previous post, how did the pilot of
the fighter component manage to put enough physical strength thorough
his stick and rudder to control the much heavier bomber component?

A few from WW2 and 2 from immediate postwar. I was surprised they had
a flying wing.
