Following the notification of the FIA for the ING Renault F1 Team
representatives to appear in front of the World Council, the team wishes
to clarify the situation.
On the 6th September 2007 it came to our attention that an engineer (Mr
Phil Mackereth) who joined the team from McLaren in Sept 2006 had brought
with him some information that was considered to be proprietary to
McLaren. This information was contained on old style floppy discs and
included copies of some McLaren engineering drawings and some technical
spreadsheets.

Renault has issued a statement in regard to being summoned to appear
before the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) and denies using any McLaren
data on its car. The FIA this week confirmed that a WMSC hearing has
been scheduled for December 9th, where the French squad will face
charges of being in breach of the sporting regulations by having
unauthorised possession of confidential McLaren information.
The matter came to light when McLaren itself was embroiled in the
Ferrari spy saga and its own investigations showed that an employee,
Phil Mackereth, had taken team data with him when he left for Renault.
Renault confirmed that Mackereth had some information on floppy discs
that was loaded onto the team file system but that it was done without
the knowledge of anyone in authority.

Even when they travel across continents and the vast ocean, the Peugeot
team is unstoppable. Today, on the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo,
Brazil, the two Peugeot 908 HDi FAPs score the front for the Le Mans
Series (LMS) season finale.
Stephane Sarrazin turned a flying lap at 1:18.787 as the French racer
and his team co-driver Pedro Lamy prepare for Saturday's Mil Milhas
race. It was their first pole in the LMS this season and yet the duo are
sitting atop of the championship points, ahead of their counterparts in
the LMP1 No. 7 team car.
