Do you have a reason to think that you might be limited to the Chevy
dealer? As far as I know, most GM auto dealers' service shops should be able
to handle most any GM car. Also, different Chevy dealers can have far
different customer service results ... my two experiences with Chevy dealers
(one in Detroit, one in the Cleveland area) were both very positive,
overall, although a very long time ago.

SATURN .. heck with SATURN being on GM's chopping block........ GM is on
their own chopping block -------------
My Aunt, who buys a new car every 2 years, bought a new Chevrolet
Corsica .. drove it .. kept hearing this "rattling noise" in the front
left.
After 2 trips to the Chevy Dealer with no mechnical problems found - but
the rattle still there - 3rd trip produced a Body Shop trip.
Removal of the inner and outer fender produced an empty beer can inside
the fender.
Needless to say she has no sympathy for the UAW WORKERS at GM.
She'll probably buy a new car in the next 2 years, doubt it will be a GM
product though.

Bob, thanks. I have been reviewing my Haynes repair manual and it says the
same thing. It mentions an oile pressure relief valve in teh housing. I'm
begining to think it has something to do with that. The oil light has done
this before early this year and then stopped acting up until just recently.
For the $$ I can try a new sending unit to see what happens 1st.

Today I spent some time driving a new 2008 silver Astra XE automatic while
my ION is in the shop. I haven't really had the chance to open one up on the
highway or hit a corner hard in the country. I am pretty impressed with the
speed and especially the handling. of course, this is really a German-built
Opel and the way it handles shows. The car loves to be beat on and rewards
you for it. Unlike my ION, it feels like a mid-size real car. I am curious
how the Astra would hold up to a year of my "sporty" driving. My '07 ION.3
does have 6 more horsepower and much more torque, I know the ION could take
the Astra in a stop light race but the Astra does quite well once under way.
I still think my ION gets better mileage and power but the Astra comes
really close.

Hi. On my daughters 97 SC2 DOHC, I had her starter replaced by a shop last
week and now it is dripping oil from the same approximate location. I
cannot get under there to see exactly, but could they be related? Do you
need to remove the oil filter to get to the starter and then maybe it wasn't
put back on all the way? Thx
