Hello
Mr Paul Tessier, in this diyaudio thread, show a merge of the digital
CS8412 section of a NOS dac with the shift register part of the Cambridge
DAC3 schematic who do some shift registering to give 4x oversampling. I
find that this schematic could be quite easy to made.
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=1638842#post1638842
Anybody know if it would work correctly, without the 7220, in a
non-oversampling mode, and give the correct timings/shifts and bit clock
shifting result ?
Making a test board, how can we see on a scope, if, without the 7220, this
schematic do give the correct timings/shifts and bit clock shifting result ?
Thank
Bye
Gaetan

On Christmas Eve I was given a Marantz CD63 on Freecycle. This is the
original 1983 champagne-gold top-loader in visually pristine condition.
Sonically it works really well, and it brought back to mind the incredible
reaction to CD many of us had in 1983. The sheer convenience, the lack of
background noise or distortions, the ability to skip or include tracks, it
was then a revelation, and the slogan "pure, perfect sound forever" had
meaning.
However, the CD63 has a very noisy spindle motor, and I'd very much like to
quieten it so I could use it in a second system. From looking at the CDM1
service manual, it doesn't look like the motor is able to be serviced. It
says that the bearings are sealed and shouldn't be lubricated. I'm reluctant
to try and dismantle the motor as that could well stop the CD player working
at all. Does anybody here know of a source for CDM1 mechanism motors, or
indeed whole mechanisms? Alternatively, I'd be happy to buy a complete
faulty CD player that has the same mechanism, provided obviously, the motor
isn't at fault.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Happy New Year to all
S.

Assuming:
The tape moves along the X pos axis
The guides pull the tape to contact the heads in the Z pos axis
The Y pos axis is the mounting screw connecting the head to the block
_____
Which plane is azimuth?
It is quite clear that errors in the XY Plane(Yaw) or YZ plane will
cause a 1/4 track tape to play tracks it shouldn't .Especially the XY
plane where height errors do not come into play
What are the results of errors in the XZ(pitch) plane? I.E. the head
is higher or lower on the left as on the right but there is no yaw (XY
error)
Any CNC programmers out there :-)

I am looking for a formula that was only in Volume 1 of Vance Dickason's
Loudspeaker Design Cookbook. If anybody out there has a copy please email
me so I can get the formula from you. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have a MOTU firewire audio interface the the owner says he plugged the
firewire cable into the wrong way round. It now does not communicate with
the computer.
Is it possible/likely to damage the interface circuitry this way?
Cheers
Gareth.
