Wendy Richards reveals she was unhappy in EastEnders
WENDY RICHARD EXCLUSIVE
By Sara Wallis 10/03/2008

Wendy Richard has revealed for the first time how desperately unhappy she
was in EastEnders.

And she had even given up watching the BBC soap while she was still playing
Pauline Fowler.

Disagreements over storylines and heavy filming schedules left the
64-year-old actress stressed out.

Wendy was relieved to quit. She said: "I feel better in myself. I have no
stress any more.

"It's quite a release. Life is more relaxed. My shoulders were tight all the
time before."

She said when her EastEnders exit was announced: "I've loved every minute of
being part of this fantastic show."

But the true picture is one of overwork and fretting about how the character
of Pauline was evolving.

Daytime is forever "Young"
Fri Mar 7, 2008 3:43am EST

By James Hibberd

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - In terms of Nielsen-topping ratings
longevity, Fox's "American Idol" has nothing on CBS' "The Young & the
Restless."

While the industry continues to marvel at the ability of "Idol" to
dominate primetime in its seventh season, CBS' veteran soap just won
its 1,000th consecutive week in the daytime ratings.

Put another way: "Young" has won every single week since 1988, when
primetime offerings included "Growing Pains," "Moonlighting" and
"Alf." And "Young" already was 16 years old when its streak started.

"Reaching the milestones of 1,000 weeks at No. 1 and 35 years on the
air simultaneously is unheard of in this industry, it is a testament
to the work of an extraordinary team of storytellers both in front of
and behind the cameras," said Barbara Bloom, senior vp daytime
programs at CBS.

CBS Dominates Daytime Emmy Nominations
Regis and Kelly get snubbed. Poor guys.
Zap2It.com

March 14 2007

Led by the popular soaps "Guiding Light" and "As the World Turns," CBS
scored 57 nominations on Wednesday (March 14) for the 34th Annual Daytime
Entertainment Emmy Awards.

CBS' 57 nominations were paced by 17 for "Guiding Light," the most for any
individual program. While "As the World Turns" had 16 nominations, it wasn't
nominated in the outstanding drama series field, which includes "Light,"
"The Bold and the Beautiful," "One Life to Live" and "The Young and the
Restless."

Following CBS with 38 nominations was PBS, which got a boost from the 12
nominations for "Sesame Street." ABC had 36 nominations.

Joining the "Sesame Street" pack with 12 nods were "The Ellen DeGeneres
Show" and "The Young and the Restless." Scoring 10 nominations apiece were
"General Hospital," "One Life to Live" and "The View."
