I'm not allowed to use the word "brilliant" because it is "over the
top". Okay... But the show sure shone :-)
1. Classic voiceover. Kay actually talked to herself, in her mind,
while thinking about her recent dream of John's death. Does ANY soaps
still use this much lampooned (Carol Burnett!) device? How
retro...how fun...to see it used again.
2. Did you see the joie de vivre in scenes with Cooper/Walton/
Douglas. Pure joy.... Douglas is clearly loving playing this
infatuated, drunken acTOR, and his colleagues are having a joyous time
with it.
3. I loved Sharon's sense of guilt and decency for what happened to
Lauren. If they hold on to that decency, we have a consistent
character with a moral throughline.
4. Sabrina went to LA. How WONDERFUL that the crew had the idea to
set up an exterior on the CBS studios roof, with a good view of the
West Hollywood hills. It was beautifully shot and lit in lumious HD,
cost nothing in terms of set construction, added realism.
Hey, other soaps doing exteriors...take a page!

Mark and Shirl have both commented that they think that Jill needs a new
"love" interest. But I don't think that Jill will ever find a "new"
love interest.
I think Jill had two great loves: Phillip Chancellor and John Abbott.
She absolutely adored both of them and her mistake with John was two
fold, she didn't want a child and deliberately miscarried by throwing
herself off a ladder and then being inordinately jealous of John's first
wife which resulted in her having an affair [literally a one night
stand] with Jack.
Jill is her own worst enemy. She goes out of her way to destroy her
relationships. That is why I don't think that she was really in love
with Ji Min, or maybe she was and she just hadn't gotten around to it
yet. But I think she was staying with Ji Min to po Katherine. The more
Katherine pushed the more Jill hung on to Ji Min.
The difference between Jill and Victor is that Jill doesn't have the
money to be as vicious and domineering as Victor. If she had the money,
she would be.
They are both insecure, manipulative and totally egocentric.

A mirror of society, if you ask me.

If you go to the URL in the subject header, there is a real site.
After a flash intro, it ends on a static screen with a
countdown...suggesting "46 days" to something (as of this writing).
Hmmmmmm.
46 days to what?
Could CBS/Sony/Y&R be trying to turn this into something REAL...an
actual e-commerce site, with tie-ins to the show? If yes, that would
be the kind of clever merchandising that harkens back to the glory
days, but also reflects what other soaps (ABC, GL) are trying to do or
encourage vis-a-vis integrated product placement.
I haven't seen any buzz on this at all.

Paul Raven at SON has unearthed a really nice old article. I thought
I'd share it here as well.
Source:
http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=25492&view=findpost&p=...
My take: Really a fun read. He was circumspect about the behind-the-
scenes politics, but also characterized himself as a guy who could
only stay on a show for 2-3 years before he had to move on.
Interesting. It also sounds like he was personally on board with the
Luke and Laura love story (despite the preceding rape). Could this be
right?
Questions:
1. He talks about not getting along with his GL (executive?) producer
at the time he was writing Quint/Nola's gothic fantasies. He says the
two of them had different levels of enthusiasm for the show. WHO was
the GL EP at that time?
2. It also sounds like he was personally on board with the Luke and
Laura love story (despite the preceding rape). Could this be right?
3. Interesting phrasing regarding his relationship with Agnes Nixon.
"We certainly got along PROFESSIONALLY".
