  Y&R David Chow death watch

Author: MarkH

I wonder if I should start a countdown or something, like ATWT did for
the Nuke kiss, in the hopeful optimism that David Chow will soon die,
and Vincent Irizarry will return to GL or AMC.

Click the source to see the interactive press conference. Listen, if my
ratings were falling down to 3.3 and 3.4, no f*cking way I'd be
distracting myself with this flimsy stuff...but what do I know about
running and writing soap operas. Plus, I think Ravl and Terry could
actually get into this :-)

I'm guessin
--so showy--it was written by Patrick Mulcahey.

That said, Heather Tom's funeral speech was...amazing. Emmy? Or too showy?

Government to sieze people's kids without any proof a crime has even
been commited. The state of TX is knowingly holding a 24 year old
woman and her kids in custody when there is aparently ample proof...

The government went in with a valid warrant. That is has now been
rescinded is of no consequence. When they went in, they found ample
evidence of multiple crimes, and it is those crimes that affords them
the right to remove the children pending a thorough investigation.
This kind of a situation happens frequently. I've seen many an
occasion where law enforcement is sent to investigate an allegation
and finds evidence for multiple crimes that was unknown prior to the
original complaint. This is a case of sexual child abuse, even if ONE
woman involved may possibly be 24. I want an America where children
don't have to worry about being "spiritually married", raped,
impregnated and giving birth before they are fully grown. I have a 16
year old daughter maybe my perspective is a little different...

Y&R Ratings crisis (ratings for ALL soaps included here)

Author: MarkH
Date: May 16, 2008 09:21

Lowest ever. It's so funny...ratings spiked under LML (first with
John's death, then Pheila), and then they trended down. But basically
Y&R held on to its' audience.

The last few weeks (specifically dating to the return of LML's WGA
writers), the ratings are in free fall. I'm posting all the soaps
here, but my own interest is specifically in Y&R. I think it is
relevant to all soaps though...since Y&R is the 'bellweather' of the
industry. As Y&R falls, so does the whole genre. When your strongest
member dies...everyone dies. I think this is the first week in memory
when not a single day hit 4.0 in households or higher.

Now, what I say her is radical. BRING VICTORIA ROWELL BACK TODAY, and
promote the sh*t out of her...esp. in Ebony/Jet, BET...whatever.
Why? Because part of what Y&R has lost is the strong African American
audience that was its' core. And who can blame them. What is
relevant to the experience of anyone who is not white, and not rich,
anymore? Adam was a lone example--raised in a barn--but even he is
now ensconced in the Newman manse.

TAN/OK, I've just about had enough now

Author: Rthrquiet

With Google Groups, that is. Twice lately I've been unable to post a
response in a particular thread (in one case repeatedly), and I get
the message, "If you think this is in error, please contact Google
Groups." So I click on the link, and I get a limited menu and a
message telling me that if my problem is not one of the ones listed,
they can't help me.

I've been grateful to have a free newsgroup reader that, though
limited and occasionally awkward to use, pretty much handled my needs,
but I think I've finally reached my limit with the silliness. I'm
guessing this is some kind of spam.bot filtering gone awry, or maybe
in one case a length restriction of some kind. It can't be a posting
frequency thing, because I'll get rejected and then turn around and
post immediately to three other threads.

Whatever it is, I'm over it.
