Hi, does anybody out there know of an inline XLR barrel with a mute
switch of some sort? I want to plug directly into an SD 722 and need to
lose the 10dB of gain still present when the pot is fully closed.
Thanks,

I haven't used the model 510 Extech but I have been using the pen multimeter
(381626) for several years now. It's very much like the Beckman meter. It's
twice the size but about half the price of the Beckman. Anyway, besides
being a bit clunky by comparison, it's been entirely satisfactory.

Sitting down to master some of the effects I have recorded over many
years and having problems with all kinds of digital hash on them. I'm
wondering if they have exceeded the life expectancy of DAT. How long
should they live?

The really good thing about using a roll number that at least until they cut
the slates off, the SR# will be commited to film on every camera start.

It is generally, at least here in the US, accepted that production mixers
leave any radical compression/filtering to those in post production who can
1) get a more accurate sence of accoustic space by listening to speakers
rather than headphones and 2) undo any bad choices. I'll continue to go
with that plan and hope that I am not replaced for not EQing a "location
problem" into a "sound problem."

Don't know about Avid. I'm just a sound mixer in need of simple utilities.
Not going to purchase and install Avid to do transcription conversions! :)
But it might be a deal maker for me to buy a Mac and Boom Recorder if it
could serve those features as well.

Stephen Lander on Channel Four TV
MI5's Director-General, Stephen Lander, appeared in Channel Four's programme "The Power List" on 31/October/1998.
The series of three programmes described the most influential people in British society.
To my deep amusement and Lander's undoubted chagrin, Fulcrum Productions, makers of the programme, chose to illustrate
the piece using screen-shots of my website. To the best of my knowledge this is the only time this website has featured
on British television screens.
