International Fanfic Writing 20 Days.

(Blade's idea, based on National Novel Writing Month. He'd post it here,
but his Usenet access is wonky at the moment...)

Not, that isn't some wacky spam or ROT13 gibberish. It's:

International Fanfic Writing 20 Days.

I'm sure many of you have heard of NANOWRIMO.
(<http://www.nanowrimo.org/>) If you're doing it... awesome! Good for
you, and good luck.

I had considered doing it the last two years, but was busy each time
writing my own multiple-novel-sized-fanfic.

Well, now it's done, but I have a significant personal matter taking up
a third of November. Well, say I, NO EXCUSES.

Since I can't take the whole month and write a novel, I'm going to take
two thirds of it and write a fanfic. A single fanfic in its entirety,
totaling no less than 50,000 words.

Wish I had that talent. I can't generally write anything without a
large block of time available. Once I get moving, I write fast, but it
takes time.

He might want to try a public news server. Here's a list:

http://services.triceron.com/usenet/srvlist.php

Make sure a news reader is installed and click on one of the public servers
in the list. I've heard good reports about aioe.org. However, you can
select any that have decent speed and a good selection of groups. Clicking
on the one you select should activate the default news reader and one can
then configure it appropriately.

For those interested, there's now a LJ community:
http://community.livejournal.com/infanwri20d/

You don't need to post it as you go there - just posting what you did,
asking questions, or lurking to see what other people do is all fine. Be
nice.

And c'mon, people. Everyone wastes an hour a day you could use to write for
less than three weeks! Take the plunge. ;p
