Master List of Anime Related Newsgroups

This is a list of anime-related newsgroups on Usenet, based on a series of
postings to alt.fan.bgcrisis on 20-21 August 2000, research by the new
maintainer, and submissions to the original maintainer, Rob Kelk.
Note: Newsgroup names (blue words) below are hyper-linked to take you
directly to the actual newsgroup, in most cases.
The short list...
rec.arts.anime.misc -- The primary place for discussion of anime on Usenet.
(Both English-dubbed and the original Japanese versions.)
alt.binaries.multimedia.anime -- The primary newsgroup for fan-subbed
episodes of recent anime from Japan.
alt.binaries.pictures.anime -- Occasional posts of wallpapers, episode
screen captures, and promotional posters.
rec.arts.manga -- The primary place for discussion of manga on Usenet.
Current manga in Japan is the main topic here.
alt.binaries.pictures.manga -- The primary newsgroup for fan-translated
chapters of recent manga from Japan.
alt.binaries.games.anime -- The primary newsgroup for anime related games.
alt.binaries.sounds.anime -- The primary newsgroup for anime related music
and soundtracks.
The erotic short list...
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.anime -- Fan-published erotic manga parodies
of familiar anime and manga and original stories as well.
alt.binaries.multimedia.erotica.anime -- The primary newsgroup for hentai
anime videos from Japan. (Videos are often Japanese language-only without
subtitles.)
There are many, many other anime-related newsgroups in many different
localities and sub-topics and some for specific shows but, most are often
quiet compared to the above newsgroups. Some of the rec.arts.anime
sub-groups as well as other anime video newsgroups do have some activity of
note. Therefore, we will move onto them next.
rec.arts.anime.creative -- Fan written stories based on popular anime.

rec.arts.anime.fandom -- This topic has mostly been absorbed into
r.a.a.misc.
rec.arts.anime.games -- Discontinued.
rec.arts.anime.info -- Anime convention and other announcements.
rec.arts.anime.marketplace -- Buy/Sell/eBay ads go here.
rec.arts.anime.models -- Discontinued.
rec.arts.anime.music -- Discontinued.
alt.binaries.multimedia.anime.d -- Discussion of videos and software needed
to view them and posting guidelines. Requesting posting of episodes and
series is best done here.
alt.binaries.multimedia.anime.raws -- Used for posting of untranslated
anime.
alt.binaries.multimedia.anime.repost -- Intended for requested reposting of
single episodes that have been recently posted in a.b.m.a. Also, to be used
for posting of very popular long running anime series that are frequently
requested to start from the beginning.
alt.binaries.multimedia.anime.highspeed -- Intended for the posting of more
than 2 episodes per day of any series. Often in blocks of 6 episodes per
day.
alt.binaries.anime-- Not much used nowadays although anime bittorrent files
have been posted in the past.
