"Metropolis" wasn't submitted for consideration. I have no idea why.
Personally I thought that film should've gotten a nomination; "Lilo and
Stitch", "Spirited Away" and "Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis" were among the best
animated features of all time, not just 2002. But like with Kon movies,
"Metropolis" opened in much too few theaters to have a realistic chance at a
nomination
