This is the issue that has been bugging me for the whole series! Since
he's the last Airbender, what's going to happen in four incarnations
when he's supposed to be reborn in the Air Nation again - and there
ISN'T one?

And how can the world be "in balance" when 1/4 of it is missing?

I hadn't considered that the power to remove bending ability might
also include the power to *bestow* bending ability. That does make
sense, though. Still, there are some interesting implications. Where
will the new Air Nation people come from? Perhaps they'd be refugees
(or volunteers) from all of the other nations?

The people living in the Northern Air Temple (from the first season
episode of the same name). They already fly around on gliders, and
Aang said that Teo "has the spirit of an Airbender", so it's a natural
(literally) choice.

I am still of the opinion that not all the air benders were
destroyed. Aang was saved by being frozen by accident. It's not out
of the realm of possibility that the Air Nomads survived somewhere
else. They were nomads after all.

To quote (or at least paraphrase) the creators of the show when this
question comes up, "Think of the name of the show". It's called that
for a reason.

Yes but the show is now over. Anything is possible now.
