If you could star in an animated or anime version of your current
favorite live action
film, what film would you pick, who would you like to play and what
would you like doing in the role.

I wouldn't. One of the first rules of animation; more importantly, one
of Charles M. Jones first rules of animation, is "never animate anything
you don't have to"
If it's already been made as a live action film, there's probably no
need to do it again in animation.
This is a lesson Don Bluth should have learned decades ago.

I can see how one could star in a live version of an animated film,
but how can one star in an animated version of a live action film?

There goes 90%% of all anime. KareKano, Azumanga, Hidamari Sketch,
Sketchbook... hell, almost all school or slice-of-life anime. Even more
than that, actually. We have live action Sailor Moon, so why did we need to
animate it? Live action Honey and Clover (and you'll take the anime away
from me when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers), Meitantei Conan...
Fuck it. No moar anime.

That would exclude much of our best animated movies.

VOICE acting? Sheesh, it's like someone's never heard of the complete
industry that's been around since the early days of radio dramas.

It occurred to a number of people, including Mark Evanier and me. I said
they were going to bury him as soon as they prized the rifle loose.
That's not to say the one you pointed to wasn't funnier. Short as it is,
you could probably have just quoted it:
'Heston Family Has Difficulty Coping with his Death
'
'The family of Charlton Heston is reportedly having a hard time dealing
'with his death Saturday night. "Taking the guns from his cold dead
'hands - much creepier than expected," reports a family spokesperson.
'"Even though he gave us permission to do this several times, the rigor
'mortis made it fairly difficult, and way creepier than you would
'think."
