True enough. Doesn't mean the anime AYA was as good as it could have
been.

Lots of anime modify the story to make it simpler thus
underestimating the TV audience (I hope), Kare Kano was
a particular horrible example of the nerve and money of the
animation company failing.

It would be more sensible to wait until the story
the mangaka is writing is finished but maybe they were afraid
of losing the manga audience. The KK story could have done
with a plot outline for the animators, but it seems many times
the writer has no idea which direction the story will be taking.
